So, first up, I have to mention that in Prague, there are a bunch of places calling themselves the 'Beer Museum.' But they're more like pubs than proper museums. Now, this particular spot is like a mix of a museum and a display area. They've got a bunch of info boards laying down the facts about brewing and the whole history of beer in Central Europe, with a focus on Prague. And they've got all sorts of artifacts and stuff linked to brewing from different times in history. There are also two rooms that take you on a trip down memory lane to the old-school beer hangouts, even throwing in a nod to the days of Communism. The big finish is a trip down to the cellar, where you get to sample four different beers. The person looking after us was a real gent, giving us info on each beer: the color, what's in it, how they whip it up, and all that. This museum is a pretty cool and enlightening experience. At the souvenir shop, they've got some funny stuff and some properly interesting bits too, like cosmetics made out of beer. Not overly brilliant, but absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery interesting experience! You start your tour by drinking a beer from tap. We really enjoyed our interaction with Jan, the guy pouring the beer! Such a nice, polite, and pleasant person that sets you up for the rest of the experience! You then proceed to read about the production and history of beer throughout Europe, from early development, to Roman and Medieval times, up until modern day including bottles and barrels, cup evolution, tap beer technology. At the end, there are two "thematic" pubs, representations of a pub in the 1920's and of one during Communist times. You complete the tour by tasting another two beers from tap. Overall it is a very nice way to spend 1-2 hours (depending how much you want to read from the history panels) and taste a few nice beers! Important: Not to be confused with the "Prague Beer Museum". That one is a pub, this one is actually a museum. A lot of the pictures I see in reviews for this site are actually from the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy opinion is that this "museum" has been hastily put together with little to no thought about the consumer experience. The first person to greet us, not only didn't know much about the beer we were given, but also wasn't sure how to pour it out for us. Once we got the beer, we were sent to wait in some characterless back room, to finish it. After this, the "exhibition floor" is basically Wiki-word vomit that you have to guide yourself through, because there's nobody from the "museum" present to explain or engage with you. There are a few artefacts - again, with no explanation or story-connect. Finally, we get taken into a dark bottom floor, again, barely any effort beyond a lame looking pub - where they show us an admittedly cool machine that pours 2 beers each for us, some random unexplained artefacts again. And that's it. Highly recommend skipping this one! Too expensive for basically nothing except 3...
