Summary||This is NOT a 5 star hotel! Anyone that thinks it is should spend a bit more money and stay in the Four Seasons (400m from U Prince). We ended up relocating to the four seasons to recover from the shock.||This hotel is more like a 3 star hotel with a fantastic location. This hotel is only convenient for its location, centrally located in the old town.||No security, so please don’t forget to lock room door.||Not wheelchair or elderly friendly. Dim lighting, plenty of trip hazards.||Staff are nice in hotel, terrace, restaurant and cocktail bar. Some more efficient than others.||Luckily, this accommodation didn’t spoil our trip , as it encouraged us to explore more places and only use it as a base to sleep and shower. Prague is really beautiful!!! ||Rooms dated, sockets don’t work. Paper thin walls, so can pretty much hear what’s going on in other rooms adjacent.||No 5 star amenities or service. You carry bags yourself.||Reception||Arrived at 9pm after long day of travel and was asked to wait in reception to be checked in. Waited for 20mins.||Check out was smooth apart and we opted to leave suitcases at reception and went out for breakfast. This was due to breakfast being so poor in breakfast room. On our return we arrived and receptionist stated that she had no idea where our cases were and to wait again in reception until they found them. We nearly missed our flight!||Breakfast||We pre paid breakfast in advance for duration of our stay. Being an acclaimed 5 star hotel we were confident it would be decent. However, we were greatly mistaken. The breakfast room is like a small stifling hot 16th century tavern. Tables are very close to one another, making dining in Paris seem spacious. The breakfast room being stifling hot logically warmed all the breakfast items, that should be cold or chilled, to room temperature (30+ degrees). Warm apple juice, warm orange juice, warm fruit and water melon, warm continental breakfast items, which was a new experience. Scrambled eggs, fried eggs were dry but at least rightfully warm in that stifling hot breakfast room. There was also no way of toasting sliced bread. Vender machine coffee maker was always out of order. Lack of items after 8.30am. You need to arrive before 8am for some sort of a choice.||When brought to the attention of the food and beverages manager, he thanked me for my feedback and told me that he would pass this information on to the chef. He also claimed that he had never had any complaints. However, this didn’t address our current issue, as we had a further two days of breakfast. I explained to the manager that we couldn’t eat the breakfast and he simply nodded and told me again he would pass on information to the chef. Ironically, after complaining two guests entered the lift with me and I heard them saying the breakfast was disgraceful. ||Terrace||Open to public. High volume of patrons using the single lift to go up to the terrace and past all the rooms. During peak times, we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs, as this was quicker.||Cocktails decent. Can’t comment on food as didn’t have any food at this restaurant.||Black Angel||Cocktails were well executed but were asked by an overly friendly and touchy guy not to take photos or videos, which we found odd. We often visit the top 50 global cocktail bars around the world and they are happy if you share the pics on social media. The exception, was only some bars that had secret doors (Paris) to enter the bar, which was part of the experience to figure it out.||Main Restaurant||Don’t order cocktails in main restaurant. Ordered two margaritas and they were too sweet. Can’t comment on food as didn’t have any at this restaurant.||Rooms||Rooms looked better in picture. ||Old little fridge, old kettle and sachets of instant coffee.||Noting general public can literally walk past your room (no security), maids left our room unlocked on two occasions.||Room doors come with big heavy brass keys. ||Some rooms have bath tubs and showers. Stepping out of bathtub was hazardous. Some showers far too small for an adult to shower in. Not to mention trying to stand under the shower head without closing the plug by accident by stepping on it became an acrobatic art form.||Linen was nice and clean. Beds made well. Mattress nice and firm. ||Dated air con unit can get clunky and noisy. ||No black out curtains.||Location||The only 5 star quality of this hotel was location. Square can get noisy but this is at no fault of the hotel and it added to the vibrant experience of the city, in our opinion.||Lessons learned||Always book well known 5 star...
Read moreMy partner booked this hotel and the NYE Terrace Party for my Christmas present ||On check in, we asked if we were to be issued NYE party tickets, the Receptionist said we just give our name to the host on the night. |(I will explain the fiasco later) ||On our first evening, we were told we couldn’t take a photograph in the bar by one of the waiting staff, there are no signs that we could see that said this. |How strange, you can’t take photos in a bar on a Christmas vacation. ||NYE day, we were rudely told we couldn’t sit at a table and have a drink, so we sat at the bar, no issue with that, then another couple had the same issue, they were told to leave the table, so they sat at the bar, then a waiter moved them again as the barman said they could, they just got up and left. ||On coming in to the hotel after a walk around the square, sits a young girl (The host for the Black Angle bar I believe) |She abruptly says” You can’t go upstairs” I replied “I can because I’ve paid to stay here and I’m on the 4th floor! |No manners, don’t even ask if we were guests, I understand the Terrace was closed in preparation for the party, but ASK me if I’m a guest of the hotel before making assumptions. ||NYE Terrace Party||We were greeted my a female host, we gave our name and were shown to a table for two on the Terrace. ||The table was not close to a heat lamp and was literally under a huge gap in the terrace roof which was blowing through cold air. |We partner politely asked the waiter if it would be possible to move to the table adjacent as it was out the way of the gap, he said he would ask someone else, another waiter came and advised “no” all tables are reserved” obviously as this was a ticketed event to which we also had paid a lot of money for. |We were not asking for a bigger table, extra heat, nothing other than to move a little further away from the draught. |My partner said this was unacceptable and asked to speak to someone else. |We don’t get moved thankfully, then all of a sudden this tall guy with a strange hair cut was loudly telling us that we had no reservation because we didn’t show a ticket! He said we had to go and sit downstairs at the bar! |Other guests were looking and I was so embarrassed. |My partner advised the tall man that we have a fully paid for reservation and proceeded to show him our email confirmation. |He then asked for my partners name, once given, he back tracked and said “ oh yes this is your actual table, this is booked for you. |I was so angry, this man assumed we were just trying our luck and had no reservation. |It was humiliating. ||One by one, the men that had been rude to us apologised, sorry isn’t good enough, it was a bad first impression and the damage was done. ||In to the early hours of NYD, we had to call reception repeatedly due to the noise from the staff on the terrace, we understood they have to clear up but they should know that guests are trying to sleep, the same on NYD evening, again we had to call reception.||We ordered room service|which was over an hour late, we called reception, they said the kitchen had lost the order! My partner had written on the receipt that he was not paying for the food. ||We would not stay in this hotel again even if it was for free. We are happy to be leaving today ||The majority of the staff are rude with the odd exception “Wendy” was by far the nicest member of staff here. She looked after us on NYE ||We are currently sat in the bar, if the manager wants a...
Read moreBeautiful hotel in a perfect location on old town square. ||We booked an airport pick up and had great service from the driver, one of the hotel staff met us outside the hotel and took us and our bags directly to the hotel room. ||The room was a deluxe room which was a really nice sized room which was perfectly clean and tidy. The bed must have been king sized with two separate quilts, which was perfect for the two of us. ||Bathroom was lovely, two sinks, huge bath and brilliant pressure on the water. Hot water was really good as well. ||We ordered food to the room for one of the nights which was good, great service from the staff again. ||Although the rooms have double windows which block out any sound of people or music from the roof top terrace above, we found that there was a lot of banging throughout the day. This banging started as early as 6am and goes on through to as late as 1am. ||It’s the sound of furniture being moved, cupboards banging shut but not a single voice. ||Not sure if this would be isolated to this particular room, but it’s really bad. We’ve only had one restful night out of five.||We booked for bed and breakfast for our stay but stopped using the breakfast after day two. ||Although the selection is quite good the room which it is located is as hot as a sauna, so things like the juice and fruit were warm. They also ran out of milk the first day and juice the second day. ||We switched to going somewhere else after this. ||On the note of heat, the rooms were really warm, even with the radiators off and “aircon” on full blast it was still hotter than I prefer to sleep in. The couple I spoke to in the room opposite said the same in passing.||The staff were really helpful, they even moved our rooms to try and reduce the noise issue. We think the new room was worse for the noise issue, but we still appreciated them trying to resolve it.||The price is good for the premium location. Straight outside the front door and you are on the square with loads to do.||The rooftop terrace is good for drinks and food, with amazing views. It does however attract a lot of people that don’t stay in the hotel, which increases foot traffic and general noise. ||I personally wouldn’t stay here again because of the noise, we are both light sleepers and couldn’t handle the restlessness. ||For information we stayed in rooms 31 and 41, so others might be better. 41 was the worst for the banging early in...
