Aesthetically Pleasing, But Beware of Oysters at Fishmarket

I recently had the opportunity to visit Fishmarket, a place that came highly recommended by friends from Mexico. Always eager to explore new and exciting dining experiences, I eagerly anticipated my visit.

Upon arrival, Fishmarket's beautiful and inviting ambiance immediately captured my attention. The well-designed interior and tasteful décor truly set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell somewhat short of my expectations.

Arriving at around 5:30 pm, my party and I found the restaurant completely empty. We were not particularly hungry but were excited to sample a variety of entrées. However, we felt somewhat uncomfortable, as the staff seemed to expect us to order main courses. Their demeanor gave us the impression that our decision to only order entrées was unwelcome.

The most concerning issue, however, was our experience with the oysters. Several of us decided to indulge in this popular delicacy, only to fall ill later that evening. It was clear that the oysters we consumed were not of the highest quality, putting a damper on our overall dining experience.

While Fishmarket boasts a stunning atmosphere, the service and food quality left much to be desired. I sincerely hope they take the necessary steps to improve these aspects, as the potential for a great dining experience is there. Until then, I would advise potential diners to approach with caution, particularly when it comes...

Horrible service!

I was at Fishmarket restaurant many times before, but since August 2021 the service became horrible! I came for a dinner with my family on 22nd of August 2021, reservation was at 18.45.

Retaurant was noisy, full with people talking and minding their own business. My son was watching his cartoons calmly, when one of the waitress asked to put the sound down. I asked if someone complained about it being so loud, as it was very noisy in general, and she replied with the following: "No, no-one has complained, I just don't like it personally." This kind of attitude towards your customers, especially loyal ones, is unexpetable at least. Waitresses are rude, ignorant, impolite and absolutely lacking the meaning of service. On too of the above, they have no idea about the food/wine you sell.

Normally, we would have taken deserts and coffee to complete our dining experience, but we left without even checking the menu that was brought to us.

You should pay more attention to people you hire, as they put the reputation of this place to the very bottom.

I am very disspointed in...

We went here for our wedding anniversary after previously having a great experience. From the start, we were up sold the Royal Plateau de Fruits de Mer, even after saying we’ll be fine for now with the Grande. The service was very poor and boarding on rude, if not just direct. Our food arrived on our rather cramped table with no comments or advice. During our meal, we were never asked once if everything was okay, and our bowls for spent shells were never emptied. The seafood was poorly prepared, with the crab and lobster shells not being cracked appropriately to make extracting the flesh easy. It was also difficult to attract the attention of the staff for additional drinks. Lastly, there were no hand towels in the bathroom and the staff didn’t seem too bothered on refilling them. All in all, a dreadful experience for what we hoped would be a lovely evening together. We won’t be...

Very fresh and tasty seafood. We got their signature seafood platter (the smallest portion out of 3) a fish soup and a poached turbot. The fish dish is a must try, it was poached very well that it is just cooked and soft. The fish soup is cooked not as a bisque but in form of dark brown soup, it is quite salty and very flavorful, so depends on your taste. If you love strong taste, it is for you. And it's served with cheese flakes over bread. The seafood platter is served with delicious malt bread, very nice. The reason why I don't give them a 5 star is the price, it is on the more expensive side, we spent 165 DKK with 3 glasses of white wine on top.

The service is great. Very attentive and nice people. The food on the other hand was confusing to say the best. Each dish was overpowered with some flavor, especially salty. I kept trying it to hope it got better like I was missing something they were trying to create. In the end, I left with a bad taste in my mouth, literally, and really wanted to find something to take it away. It was late so not much was open. Brushing my teeth helped a bit, but it's still all salt and some spice that was in the sauce with the fish. Sorry to say, but this was the worst dinner I've had in a long time. The fish was cooked perfectly, but it didn't save the course.
