Terrible experience! The waiter was extremely annoying. He kept bothering us every 30 seconds to take our order ever since we got there. There was no need for that considering that the restaurant was almost empty and we didn't take more than 5 minutes to make up our minds. The first thing that struck me was the fact that the food was really expensive (even compared to other restaurants in the area), but we wanted to try traditional food and, since we were hungry and already at the table, we decided to stay. The food arrived and it looked totally unappealing (imagine canned fish mashed together with random vegetables into a brownish mess). The portions were really small (3 of them would almost be enough to feed an adult... almost) and the taste was stomach turning... I...

We stumbled upon Gammeltorv Café (well… more on the stumbling part later) and were warmly welcomed by a lovely waitress who guided us through the cozy, charming restaurant straight to our table.

The lunch options were unapologetically Danish — and exceptionally delicious. Each bite felt like a culinary hug from Denmark itself. But then came the snaps… smooth, yet secretly powerful little glasses of joy that snuck up on us like Viking warriors in disguise.

We fully embraced the Danish lunch tradition — food and snaps — and let’s just say… we didn’t so much walk out of the restaurant as waddle out, full of laughter and pickled herring.

What an introduction to Danish cuisine and Copenhagen hospitality. Absolutely phenomenal. 12/10 would...

Went here with my partner on Sunday although we tried to get a table in the late afternoon Saturday but the kitchen was closed which was understandable as it was an hour before close but we were happy to go back the next day and it was a really enjoyable experience! From the friendly staff to the beautiful old rustic and romantic setting, the dishes also were really well done and perfectly filling. I’d HIGHLY recommend booking a table like we did because we came just before they opened at 12pm and there were already a good amount of people waiting outside!
