A note before I begin. I only write good reviews about good restaurants. If I've been in your town or city and I haven't written a review about your establishment, I've either not been to your place or I had an awful experience when I did visit. So, Cafe Oscar how did this place do? In short brilliantly! I had a lunchtime experience in this 'Set back from the coast, on a busy road intersection, not so inspiring location'. I was a visitor to Copenhagen, so the location would normally have been more important. One naturally leans towards river, sea, mountain or lake views where available, but having walked some distance through the city, taking in it's charms, The Cafe Oscar was like finding a little Oasis, set within the grandiose buildings and busy streets of this area of Copenhagen. 1.The greeting? Quick, efficient, greeted with a smile and a positive, but not conceited or arrogant air of "Of course we can meet your every request." Efficiency. Our order and quirky dietary requests were dealt with easily, with a smile, a couple of laughs, which puts one at ease and assures one that here you are in professional hands (a huge round of applause to our waitress that day). 4.Quality of food. Simply put excellent! I eat out a lot and sometimes I actually wonder if the people who cook the food ever actually taste their own dishes. Here it's obvious they do and this was borne out when I asked why the goats cheese had been prepared the way it was presented (it was absolutely delicious. It must have taken a little more care and effort, an additional step if you like, in its concoction and presentation, but boy was it worth it. I will not reveal this step to you here, but I would urge you to try it yourself. Just ask for the Goats Cheese Salad and give your taste buds a holiday they won't forget. Ambience. For me ambience is made up of two main things. Obviously the items in the place that make up the decoration, the seating, the lighting, but also the professionalism and confidence of the staff taking care of one. Both get top marks from me at Cafe Oscar. Value for money. It's been said many times I'm certain. "Nothing is cheap in Copenhagen". How true this is, but if one gets value for money the shock of the cost is slightly eased. I was with my partner and we both had memorable meals that in no way made either of us feel 'ripped off', 'overcharged' or 'swindled'. Quite the contrary, we both felt pampered, well fed, satisfied and fortified for the rest of our journey through "Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen ...You know that place, Cafe Oscar where we had that amazing lunchtime meal.... It will remain in our memories for many years. Thank...
Read moreWe had the best brunch at Café Oscar in Copenhagen! We actually showed up a bit early—first ones there when they opened—and they still welcomed us in with kindness and a smile. That alone says so much about the warmth of this place.
The brunch menu is build-your-own and absolutely fantastic. Some of our items were chia porridge, a cheese presentation, and pancakes with chocolate sauce that tasted like they were made in heaven. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
The vibe is cozy and relaxed, with a kind of casual elegance that makes you want to linger. We sat inside with a few fun drinks, watching Copenhagen wake up. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home.
It's just a short walk from the Marble Church and metro, perfectly placed in the heart of the city. Café Oscar made our morning magical—can’t wait...
Read moreWe had brunch. I chose pancakes but I got served crepe instead. Crepe is a completely different thing. I am a chef myself so I know well the difference between pancakes and crepe. So just to let you know customers can also search and see how pancakes and crepe look like. So when you write the name in your menu please consider that customers want the specific food you mention and not something else. Portion sizes were smaller than I expected so if you come in hungry, 3 types of brunch mentioned in the menu is not enough at all. I liked the atmosphere and attitude of them in serving the food. The best dish for brunch is torsk with tartar sauce which was my favorite. But again I was waiting for pancakes and got a crepe which was disappointing. I would add another cake to the brunch menu as I assume a lot of people would like to have it...
