The service staff: Very polite, nice to talk to, approachable, good at presenting the food they serve. They also speak English.
Our experience: There were 2 of us, my partner had reserved a table for 6PM with a Best of Hyhavn meal for 2 via earlybird. We were seated very quickly, given drinks menus, and served our 2 elderflower drinks. We waited for our food. The food served are as follows: the olives with unripe peaches, lobster crisps and crustade with seafood salad were served in one go. It felt more like a 5-course meal when the appetizers are served this way, compared to how the items are presented on the website. These were very good, however. Followed by the tuna tartare with some bread and butter on the side. This was also a good next plate, very fresh and flavorful, without an overwhelming fishy taste. We waited some 40 minutes for our next course, which was the asparagus. Another table that arrived after we were settled in got their asparagus first, and we waited a bit too long for somewhat bitter asparagus. The website menu says there is Vesterhavs cheese with the plate, but we just had the bubbly sauce. This was my least favorite of the courses. The skin fried hake, which was the main course, has to be the best. The combination is very well executed and lets the fish shine through the sauce and sides. We asked to move inside the restaurant as it was getting very cold. There were heaters outside attached to the umbrellas, but they were turned on a little later after we went inside. We finished the meal with a delicious dessert where the cream was poured into our bowls of rhubarb sorbet, cookie dough, malt, and a couple stalks of dill. This dessert was amazing, and I had never tasted anything like it. I'm not one for rhubarb sorbet, but the combination was unique and I loved it.
Overall, it was a solid experience. My only thumbs down would be that the asparagus felt a little subpar and took longest to be served. I would recommend this place for maybe some other dishes like their seafood platter or perhaps their bigger à la carte dishes. For the price, the Best of Nyhavn menu is okay, it's delicious, but not a blow-your-mind experience. But definitely try out their other dishes, they looked amazing to me...
Read moreWas very excited to have a sea food dinner, but I was pretty disappointed. Place: Uncomfortable chairs and tables are way too packed. We have ordered a bottle of wine, which was hanged on the holder on the side of the table, and completely closed the passway to leave for the bathroom (so imagine how close the tables are). Every time my partner had to use the restroom, he needed to ask a person sitting by the other table to move and let him through (annoying for both parts). Food: Pretty dull. I was really excited to get my moules frites, but the sauce was tasteless, mussels cleaned poorly (could feel some sand, contained barnacles, byssal threads) so really everything that could go wrong with this dish - did go wrong. Tried fish and chips, fish in general was okay, but it was served on a huuuge pile of french fries, even the waitress was confused. It was completely unnecessary and wasteful ( it looked like it could feed an additional 3 people). Fried oysters lacked any taste too. Mid-dinner, while I had a bite in my mouth, suddenly one waiter rushed to me, again asking under which name I have my reservation. He didn't explain anything, didn't apologise, nothing. Also seemed pretty annoyed, interaction was a bit unpleasant, since I really did have a reservation and already presented myself upon the arrival. In general wouldn't recommend...
Read moreThe location is unreal, the wine is delicious, the caviar was amazing and the service was great. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because for the price that they charge (we spent 85 pounds for 1 caviar and 2 glasses of white wine Riesling), it's just not it.
The 30g caviar is incredibly good, but they don't serve it with the mother of pearl spoon for caviar and comes with only 5 blinis... which any one that likes it would know that it should be at least 8, after all, we are sharing between 2 people and it was waaaay to much for only 5 blinis. Also, these spoons (which are like 2 pounds each) and 3 more blinis per portion would elevate the experience 100% and cost barely anything for a restaurant.
We are already paying 450DKK for the caviar (which is one of the most expensive in Copenhagen), it could at least come with a nice spoon and 3 more blinis... I just think it's too pricey for what they offer, but it's still...
