We booked this restaurant for our first night in Chamonix as we had seen it had good reviews on the internet.
The ambiance was great, the restaurant was full and cozy.
As a starter we had the onion soup which was good. We also shared the steak tartar and this was the highlight of the dinner for me. It was really good and very well cooked. The meat and flavour was good as well as the potatoes, crunchy and tasty.
As a main we had the foundue with mushrooms and this dish caused a bit of controversy in our table as it was good in terms of flavour but it was way too liquid, this kind of dish has to be more consistent otherwise the experience of dipping the bread in the cheese makes no sense (you can see in the first video what I mean). We asked the waiter for a solutions and im not sure how they solved it as they took the pan away but they did bring it back with a more consistent texture (see the second video). The only thing i didnt like is that we got the sense that the waiter (who I think is the owner) didnt like that we complaint and made some bad faces towards us which makes 0 sense as you can see on the videos we had a reason to complaint. We were very polite when we asked and she didnt take the message well I guess.
Anyway, in general its a good restaurant were you are going to eat good food which is the most important part. I do recommend...
Read moreI hardly write reviews nor do I comment on those platforms.
Today‘s experience here motivated me to change my routine.
We had dinner with 7 people - half of us where Asians.
Food overall was average with some ups & some downs.
The one thing completly inaccptable is the meat they serve. Don‘t get me wrong. The quality received (on the second serving the quality of meat was good). The thing at no go - on the menue a 280 gr. Black Angus ordered at medium rare. We received a tiny 150 gr. hand warm well cooked something.
I hardly complain and I never sent something back to the kitchen. I operate a gastronomic business & I love to cook. What hapoens here is a pure tourist trap & just not acceptable.
I received a second steak - same size but cooked „a point“. They forgot to change the peper sauce and the fries were also cold .... not to...
Read moreWhat a wonderful find! This restaurant was recommended by my mountain guide - who said the chef is a retired mountain guide himself. Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced wherever possible. The wines are equally amazing and good value for money. Service is excellent. The ambience is very cosy. I'd recommend booking ahead because we saw several walk ins being turned away - it is a small restaurant after all. I personally loved the beef tartare (best I've ever had), escargot, carpaccio and the creme brulee 😋. I came here twice during my short vacation...
