I cannot say enough about Adulis!!! I was arranging dinner for a very large party (26 people,) and Lazare was extremely helpful and flexible. He created a special dinner formule for our group to help us stay within our budget and actually come under budget. He was open to closing down the entire restaurant for the evening, although the cellar was perfect for our needs. On the day of our dinner, everything went off without a hitch! The food was DELICIOUS, and Lazare even adressed our group in English to explain everything on the menu for those who weren't familiar with Ethiopian food. Every single person was happy with what they got, and I received compliments about the restaurant for days. I would definitely bring another group here in the future if I lead a similar trip. It's also important to note that Lazare operates the entire restaurant with only one woman working in the kitchen, so what they accomplished that night is especially noteworthy. He served all the food while she cooked, and we still only spent about two...

We wanted to find an ethnic restaurant where we could get a lot of flavor and spice. Coming from the US, it's easy to find something that will set your mouth on fire or something mild but tasty. We walked a mile and a half to give Adulis a try. We were not disappointed. We found the restaurant quaint but no assuming. The hostess was friendly and quite helpful in answering our questions and helping to make a decision on which platter to choose. In the end we wanted the platter with all the meats, vegetables and legumes. My wife is more of a foodie than and she found everything to her liking. I've searched out ethnic restaurants in every country I traveled. This meal was delightful. Though I would have liked more heat, I was not disappointed. Moreover the price was fantastic as a dinner for two. We left fully satisfied and would definitely return. We are certainly recommending to our friends and colleagues who will be...

I have long dreamed of trying Eritrean cuisine, because in my native Bulgaria there is no such restaurant, unfortunately. Today 19.12.2024.around 5 pm, my friend and I visited this interesting place, where we were greeted warmly and friendly. We were the only guests at that time. There was pleasant music from this region of Africa. We were treated to extremely delicious salads and dishes. For two people, two salads, two dishes, a glass of wine and one juice, we paid less than 58 euros. The place is not visible from afar, but this is precisely the charm of such restaurants. I highly recommend it to anyone who, like us, comes from a country with not such a wide variety of world cuisine, but has always dreamed of trying delicious food in a...

The owner and waiters were very friendly and the people were lovely! The location was also great! However, the flavors just were just not great. We ordered the Shiro and the Spicy beef. The Shiro was pretty tasty, but the beef was just not very flavorful-- it was mostly oily and had a lot of fat. The collard greens were a sweet, one-note flavor, and the lentils were also pretty bland. I was over all disappointed. I love Ethiopian food and have eaten it in many restaurants throughout the United States, the Middle East, and Europe. Maybe they were just having an off-day? But I just can't recommend this place

Warm, friendly service in casual, yet intimate, atmosphere when we popped in for afternoon coffee pick-me-up. Espresso was richly flavorful. The server-barista told us they roast and grind their Ethiopian coffee beans on the premises. There is a downstairs space of several tables where the restroom also is. It’s a good idea to descend the ancient stone stairs and imagine you’re an 18th C. visitor to this quaint little café which also serves Ethiopian meals and French desserts. The diners at tables next to us appeared to greatly enjoy their lunches of beautifully presented food.
