I went to this bakery today with my partner. I speak a little French but English mainly. There was a man working today (may 18th at 12:30 pm) who was being extremely rude. He asked us what we wanted in french and when I asked for a croissant he looked at me confused and then asked me to point at what I wanted. I pointed and started to speak english as it was easier for me to explain. He then responded to me in a mix of english and french speaking very fast and he started to get frustrated when I didn’t understand him immediately. He then made his coworker start taking our order. We finished our order with her (she also seemed annoyed by this). We ordered take away but then decided to sit outside as not many tables were taken and others were eating take away outside too. We were unaware that if you order takeaway you’re not supposed to sit at the cafe. In the USA this is a very common thing to do and this is our first time in Europe. Once we were about to leave, the same man that we spoke to earlier, came over to us and stated with a raised voice “For the final time, if you order take away, you cannot sit there, you take it AWAY”. He had never spoken to us previously about sitting there. He returned to cleaning outside tables while mumbling things under his breath and even slammed a coffee cup down and it splashed all over where he was cleaning. My partner and I were quite stunned he would speak to us that way and in front of other customers. We cleaned our table and left immediately. If there was a sign or if he had just asked us to leave, we would have never sat there or had left when asked. I understand us not speaking fluent french may be angering but this should not be the response, especially when located right next to the louvre. This interaction ruined our day and I’m sure we’re not the first people he’s...
Read moreThis place is right beside the Louvre, a major tourist attraction. But avoid this place if you're a foreign tourist. Especially if you're an Asian tourist; because they will serve you differently.
The place looks beautiful. But my God their service is awful. I came with my family two weeks ago While I speak French, they didn't. We had a relatively large order and the guy taking our order was incredibly annoyed. We were giving good business, we paid almost €80 – yet he just kept badgering us to move down the queue. The line wasn't even that long, yet he was annoyed we were ordering for 7 people.
The woman making our coffees and sandwiches was even more unfriendly. We asked her for sugar and napkins, and she kept dismissing us by saying we should've included it in the order. Not wanting to cause a scene, I waited for her to finish our sandwiches and coffee. I asked again for sugar and napkins, and she said in an angry tone "here you go" and threw them on the counter.
We decided to sit on their outside patio. And ten minutes later, a woman came out saying this area was for customers only. This is despite the fact the packaging of our coffees and sandwiches were their logo. I said in French, "we are customers." She refused to hear it. So I went inside and said "you saw us here ten minutes ago," to the staff "can you tell your colleague to let us eat outside." Her male colleague said to her we were customers, and she left us alone. They clearly hated the fact Asian tourists were eating at their...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to enjoy some cake and a cup of coffee around 7 PM, and this spot had an impressive selection of cakes. The coffee was also really good! The macaron cake in the photo was absolutely delicious!
The system works so that you place your order at one counter and pick it up at another. The staff taking orders were super friendly and cheerful—it was enough to just point at the cake you wanted. However, the staff preparing the orders seemed tired and not very eager to interact. For some reason, I ended up getting both a cappuccino and a café latte, even though I only ordered one cappuccino.
There were only two tables inside, but a few more were available outside on the street. As far as we understood, eating on-site costs about one euro more per slice of cake compared to takeaway.
We’d recommend grabbing your treats to go and finding a nicer spot nearby to fully...
