I don't need a waiter to roll their eyes when I ask for a simple water refill.
Just had afternoon tea and the service was disappointing.
We ordered one puff crème dessert 🍨, peach tea, and a green tea.
After a hot summer day, I needed to refuel my senses with green tea.
I spoke to the waiter and told them we were customers in their Hong Kong outlets.
There were two waiters. The first one was attentive but the second one had a rolling eye gesture when I asked for a mere water refill.
I patiently waited for 10 minutes and still No hot water refill. Then another 10 minutes but no avail.
Finally, the water refill came after we paid the bill.
Growing up as a son of a Restauranteur, my father taught me that great service can make a good meal great.

Read moreThis Cova opened in 2021 with the remodeled Samaritaine. The Cova company was established in Milan in 1817 by a Napoleonic soldier, Antonio Cova. This shop has a large selection of very good pastries, some breads, and a menu of sandwiches and specials. We especially enjoyed getting an assortment of mini-pastries to sample (Hint: If you buy them to-go they were cheaper when we visited). You can also get breakfast here, either a French coffee-and-bread type or a more substantial one with egg (plus meat, if you want it) or pancakes. During our visits we tried the egg breakfast (the omelet was especially good) but we didn't try the pancakes. The sandwiches we tried were fresh and tasty. We enjoyed the pasta specials most of all. The pasta was expensive for what you got, but it was freshly made and tasty. The staff (which seemed to be mostly Italian) spoke good English, French, and naturally Italian. We found them friendly...
