I recently visited La Maison d’Isabelle to enjoy their croissants and pain au chocolat, and I was absolutely delighted by the experience. From the moment I took my first bite, it was clear that these pastries are made with exceptional care and high-quality ingredients. The croissants were perfectly flaky and buttery, with a golden, crisp exterior that gave way to a soft, airy interior — truly a benchmark for French pastries. The pain au chocolat was equally impressive, with flaky pastry and chocolate inside (maybe more chocolate inside will be better)
The bakery itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with an attractive display that makes it tempting to try many different treats. However, it’s important to note that the staff can sometimes be quite abrupt, so it’s best to decide quickly when ordering and avoid holding up the line to keep the flow smooth for everyone.
Despite this, the quality of the pastries makes it well worth the visit. La Maison d’Isabelle captures the essence of a traditional Parisian bakery where craftsmanship shines through in every bite. For anyone looking for authentic, delicious French pastries—especially croissants and pain au chocolat—this place is a must-visit. I left feeling satisfied and eager to return to try more of their offerings. Definitely one of the best spots in Paris for a classic...
Read moreThe best butter croissants and baguette we had in Paris.
We walked by one day, a sign said they have award winning croissants so we had to give them a try. The croissant was warm, and when we got to the middle, it was pretty doughy and very buttery. I enjoyed it, but it certainly wasn’t what I’d consider an award winning croissant. I figured it must be a fluke, there’s no way that croissant won any awards. Since we passed that area often, we gave it another try. Boy am I glad we did. The croissant is indescribable. Buttery and rich, but beautifully fluffy and flaky. Hands down the best croissant I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried many. Glad we bought a few. I’ll be craving it until our next visit.
On our last day we bought several baguettes from boulangeries in the area, some of them award winning. We were surprised that the baguette from Maison D’Isabelle was our favorite.
My one criticism is that the staff are unfriendly and impatient. I’m not a local, I had no idea what pastries they had or what most things were called, and yet each time we went they pressured us to give our orders as soon as we stepped in the door, before we had time to look at what they had. When we didn’t know what we wanted immediately, we got some serious attitude.
Still, the croissants were insanely good and...

Coming back to the topic, the butter they use has an AOP, which means it come from specific location I. France and follows a production process that is thoroughly controlled. You can feel that butter, it gives texture, moisture, the side of the croissant is crisp, slightly brown and feels almost caramelized ( look Maillard reaction). It’s always heaven. The taste lingers again and again, the texture feels like a cuddle to your palate. Please enjoy the treat.
Also, the bakery is located on the marché de la place Maubert, please check the schedule on the website of the city hall on order to to both at the same time. Opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 6Am to 8pm And Sunday from...
