La Table du Luxembourg — Restaurant in Paris

The two times I was there, my baby and I were left hungry for longer than we expected. Like 45 minutes on the table after ordering Fries for our baby. The service was the worst we've experienced in the six months in Paris. Sunday brunch, Nov 6, 2016. They took 45 minutes or more to get the main dish to us. And twenty minutes for our wine. The waiter whowas our server was chatting for five minutes on the table behind us while we waited hungry.So we asked another waiter for our food and was served a little later. My husband had already filled up with the cold appetizers and asked for the main dish to be packed as it was so late. We were refused first and on raising our voices and explaining why, they obliged.There was no apology and only thing we were told was " no problem" as if they were doing us a favor and that, "Brunch is slow" as though he were explaining what brunch was. Later my husband told me that the server who saw us to our table had pointed us the price, patronizingly, the first thing when we were at the door. So I don't know what really happened there. I am never going there again obviously. But I had to put it up here. All other people eating seemed local and we were the only non French speakers there. I really didn't want to make it more unpleasant than it already was and just left when I tried to speak with the guys and their response was there was no problem and an urgent need to cut the conversation short. I have a nagging feeling that we were treated terribly and didn't know it at that point.

Honesty had the worst service experience of my life today at this restaurant. We waited 15 minutes for a menu, then a waiter came by and, without even asking, took one of the menus off our table - we hadn’t even ordered yet! He just took it and walked away. After getting our menus we waited another good 15 minutes to order (to get our menus and to place an order we had to call the waiter to our table- no one ever came to ask us if we were ready). After placing our orders we waited another 20 minutes and watched four other tables get and finish their food, and still we didn’t even have our drinks! We up and walked out. I honestly think part of the reason we didn’t get good service was because we were younger than other clients and they must not have though we had money. La définition même de malhonnête! Ils vous indiquent le prix du verre de vin sur l’affiche à l’entrée à 7€, mais quand vous êtes assis on vous amène une autre carte où le verre de vin est à 12€!! Et leur site web affiche 9€ toujours pour le même verre du même vin

Et quand vous demandez pourquoi une telle différence au serveur, il bafouille en vous disant que la première carte est pour le tarif de midi…je lui fais remarquer qu’il est 18:30 et qu’il n’a donc pas à l’afficher sauf à en appliquer le prix annoncé

Le serveur a disparu, j’ai insisté pour avoir un responsable à qui j’ai dit trois fois que c’était illégal, et que je le dénoncerai à la Répression des Fraudes, il m’a répondu trois fois qu’il s’en fichait !

Nous sommes partis sans consommer bien sûr, nous ne sommes pas des pigeons

Ce genre de gens là se fait néanmoins une fortune sur le marché captif des promeneurs et des touristes qui n’ont qu’un seul autre endroit pour se désaltérer après une balade dans ce très joli jardin

Those kind of people are really dishonest! On the menu at the entrance, they advertise the glass of Rosé wine at 7€. But then on their website they advertise the very same glass of Rosé at 9€. Nevertheless, once you sit down, they bring you a new menu where the same glass is advertised at 12€!

And when you ask the waiter why there is such a price difference, he mumbles and tells you that the first prices on the menu refer to the noon service. I tell him that it is 18:30, so either they should not display this menu, or apply its prices

The waiter then disappeared, and I asked for the manager . I told him three times that it is completely illegal and that I will denounce him to the Penal authority, and he answered three times that he didn’t care!

We left without ordering anything because we are not suckers !

Those kind of people are completely dishonest as they make a fortune on the back of the tourists who only have one other alternative café in this...
