As an Indian touring alsace I though the experience was highly disappointing. Pros: location by the waterside close to a popular part of strasbourg. Waiter offered to replace the chai, once we mentioned it wasn't hot. Although we had already finished it. Cons: Waiter mentioned what we ordered wouldn't be sufficient enough and made us order more and we sadly ended up wasting the rice. Option should have been given to have either breads with the main dish or rice. Rather than forcing rice upon us in a combined increased rate. The chai seemed like a powdered sachet mixed with water rather than a proper Indian chai and seemed to have sugar in it which I wasn't a fan off. Would have preferred to have the option. Three vegetarian dishes that were ordered seemed to have the same taste - wrt the gravy. The Palak Paneer wasn't the green spinach gravy but had cooked spinach mixed in a regular yellow gravy which isn't authentic Palak paneer. The garlic naan was thick and again didn't seem fresh. Was more like a flat bread bough from the super market. From a person who always orders garlic naan in every Indian restaurant I thought this was one of the worst. The restaurant seemed cramped from a seating perspective.
All in all to ensure that we weren't biasing this on our lofty expectations we did end up going to another Indian restaurant in strasbourg - restaurant ganesha. And the food over there was Miles better I must say.
PS. All these reviews are from a vegetarian who loves his Indian palette...
Read moreWent there after cinnamon turned us back. We reached there at 6.45 pm. Its close to notre dame cathedral so we visited the cathedral and clicked few pics. When we reached the waiter(not happy that we just walked in without reservation) told us we have time till 8.30 to finish our dinner. Youngones were hungry so we said yes and we came out of the restaurant at 8.00pm. The whole time we were there we felt as if they were doing us a favor. Waiters quickly keep the food down on table without eyecontact and smile. The whole time there was a lady waitress who was just standing in the alleyway looking towards the door. She never cared to look at the customers inside the restaurant instead justlooked at the door the whole time as if somebody is about to walk in. And whenever some new customers will walk in it was other waiters going to help them with their seats. May be if she was there with a friendly face i wouldnt have minded. Didnt feel like a nice friendly place to visit again. In the midst of it all i dont even remember how...
Read moreMy recent visit to Maharaja, an Indian restaurant, left me with mixed feelings and a tinge of disappointment. As someone who enjoys Indian cuisine, I was excited to try this place, but unfortunately, the food and overall experience fell short of my expectations.
To begin with, the ambiance was underwhelming. The décor seemed outdated, and the lighting was too bright for a cozy dining atmosphere. The restaurant lacked the warm and inviting charm that I associate with Indian dining establishments.
The menu offered a variety of traditional Indian dishes, but the food itself was where the disappointment truly set in. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, a staple in Indian cuisine, and it arrived looking appealing. However, the flavor was lackluster. The sauce was overly creamy and lacked the depth of spices and seasoning that should be present in an authentic dish. The chicken was a bit overcooked, making it...
