The museum is composed of 2 parts: the state appartments and the decorative art museum. The state appartments are nice, but my experience was not entirely pleasant. The guidebook they provided says that the tour of the 'decorative art' museum starts from the chapel, and I saw a sign saying 'suite de la visit'. So I opened the closed door (which was unlocked), and entered the rooms. There were no one, but it was in the afternoon briefly after its opening, and the lights were all on, so I did not feel strange. Then one staff member, looking annoyed, came quickly and said that it's closed and told me to leave. I met another member of staff saying the exact same thing, 'it's closed'. I apologised but I really shouldn't have, as 1) there's a clear sign saying I should continue my visit, 2) no one told me it's closed, not on the website, not at the reception desk, not when I entered the museum, 3) some of the staff members were not attentive, either talking to each other or looking at their phones. They did not provide any reasons for the closure either.

I knew my French is not good and knew that they don't speak English well, but their behaviour is sheer rudeness. Not all of the staff, but particular ones, mad at visitors for their own mistakes.

p.s. they gestured that a closed door indicates that it is not open to public, BUT actually a lot of museums, in Strasbourg, in France, the doors are shut for other reasons instead of preventing visitors...
