Came here on our last night in Strasboug for dinner. Ordered the choucroute, French onion soup, and a salad Strasbourgeoise for dinner and a apple strudel for dessert. The server was kind and friendly. He did not make me feel bad about my terrible attempts at French pronunciation and spoke enough English to communicate effectively.

The choucroute was a heafty serving and very tasty. We especially liked the ham portion of the plate.

The onion soup was cheesy and bready, as it should be.

The salad Strasbourgeoise was a plate with mostly cheese, a sausage, tomatoes, onions, and a small amount of lettuce in a mustard dressing. Had I realized that when it said "cheese and sausage" salad it meant that it was mostly cheese and sausage, I would have ordered something else with more greens. But c'est la vie, right?

The apple strudel was a perfect size and did not leave me feeling over stuffed. The apples were tender but not mush and the crust was light and flakey.

Overall a...

We visited in August, when it was busy. The restaurant is in the centre of town, about 20 minutes' walk from the central station.

The interior was dark, clean and quite comfy. I didn't like the paper tablecloth, which felt cheap and stuck to my arm.

We ordered a Tarte flambée to start which arrived quickly and was very nice.

Then for our main course we had the sourkraut with various cuts of pork. It was nice without being special and very filling. So much so that neither my son or I finished it.

This took a lot longer to arrive, which was disappointing as we were hungry.

For dessert, we had the sundae with cherries soaked in brandy and whipped cream, which was pretty disappointing as there wasn't much to it.

Overall, for a meal costing around €75, it was okay...

We asked for a table for four, and were seated very quickly. We sat for a few minutes and looked at the menus. The waitress asked if we were ready to order and we said we would like some desserts and drinks. We were told no, we had to order food first. I’ve eaten all over Europe and not once have I been told I need to order more than I planned on ordering. This is highly unusual. Everyone else’s food looked delicious, we just weren’t hungry and we had been walking around for an hour looking for a place that had an open table and crème brûlée but they wouldn’t serve us. I understand they want to make money, but drinks and and dessert would have been €45-€50 and we would have been out of there in maybe 30 minutes, leaving the table open again for...

We came here based on the excellent reviews we read but were hugely disappointed by the food. 3 of us had the ‘baeckoffe’ a traditional stew type dish, which turned out to be pretty inedible. The meat was so dry and there was very little flavour to any of it. Having asked to send it back I was told they couldn’t do that and the chef insisted on sending some new stock to the table (I’m not sure how that helps considering the meat was already far to dry to be saved). 2 of us didn’t eat our meal but they would only take 1 off the bill. I’ve never been to a restaurant where they refuse to take your meal back if you are saying it is inedible. The waitress was friendly enough but I think the situation was out of her control. I wouldn’t recommend going here.

The restaurant is right next to the cathedral snd has a beautiful interiors and a lovely terrace. We sat at the terrace and the staff paid attention immediately. The staff is pretty cordial. They have a lot of Alsace food which is regional specialty. We tried a salad with duck meat and salmon. For main course ordered a fish sauerkraut (pike fish and salmon) with potatoes and parsley. I loved how light the dish was but tasted delicious. I also loved creme brûlée we had to end the meal. Pocket pinch for two with one drink each came to around 56euros but it was worth it. Highly recommend if you wanna try traditional Alsace dishes.
