I dont make a it a habbit to leave bad review but this time the reception we received was frustrating and so hostile, I feel like other people should receive a warning about this restaurant.

we havent the chance to try their food, because apparently we came upon a “reservation only” period (5pm on a sunday). the staff told us to come back after 6pm, maybe then there will be table for walk in guests. We understood and left. now I am a frequent user of The Folk, so I went on the website to see if I could try my luck and book a table at Le Tire Bouchon so we can be sure to get a table, and to our suprise the app shows that there is availability at 5:30pm (the only time slot available! the time after that were all greyed out ) thinkin it was a rare lucky moment I booked and came back to the restaurant at 5:30 with a smile.

The same staff who turned us away just now was the same one who received us, and when he saw me (again), his face turned dark and he started yelling very loudly, saying he already said that “there is no table, do we think this place is empty, look at all these guests around!” I was quite confused at this sudden outbrusts and hostility, as I thought our group was following their procedure and make the appropriate reservation - it is the restaurant themselves who put their reservation system up on The Folk for clients to check availability, and to book, so what was the problem?

when I showed him my booking page, his response was that “he was busy with all the guests present so he has no time to check!” , what was even more funny is that as he was pointing me to look at all the guests around and expressing his anger, there was an empty table that could accomodate 4 guests (we were a group of 3) sitting right there in front of me, a view that was presentable to both him and me.

at that time it was quite clear to me that the staffs are apparently very busy and had their hands already full with the current guests, our arrival was like the cherry to top off their anger. so I just very calmly patronise him that, look, we tried to follow your rule, we made the reservation, we didnt know it wouldnt work, it is nothing personal, we will just walk off.

sometimes systems have errors, or maybe they were too busy to close off the reservation system on a partner app - all very reasonable explaination - they could have just expressed all that and we would totally understand, but instead of showing such professionalism, they used this encounter as an opportunity to vent their stress and to berate clients in such condescending manners.

When I read other low-stared reviews, I could see that this is not a singular incident where guests have been met with rude attitude, I don’t know if our nationality played a role in this incident (we were asian and I am a young adult female) but beware of this, no singular place is ever worth a visit if this is the kind of hospitality they...

I would like to start with a positive note related to the food, which was very good. The restaurant served big portions with a great taste. The prices were very reasonable for what we paid as well. The atmosphere was nice as well.

However there are a few remarks that I personally consider important in the service industry:

We were 3 colleagues that chose this reastaurant given the fact that on google it was indicated to be open until 00:00. We were confirmed by the staff that the restaurant would be open until 23:30, but at around 21:50 we were told that the kitchen was going to close in 5 minutes (because we were waiting for one of us yet to come). Our colleague (that arrived at 21:55) had to order and eat in a rush!

They removed the plates (almost full with food) from our table, without previously asking to remove them or asking us if we wanted them to take-away since the portion was almost untouched.

This inconsistency caused us quite a stress since we had to rush for everything. Had we known before we would have gone somewhere else, or planned diferently.

The staff was trying to be nice, but they did not speak english, wich made it difficult to communicate with each-other. Being a turistic area, it would be better for the restaurant to have english speaking staff as well.

Last but not least, after we were being rushed to leave the restaurant, although we had not finished eating yet, A MOUSE WAS GOING AROUND INSIDE THE RESTAURANT coming from the kitchen area!!!!! We were shocked and also told that to the waitress that after we said: "There is a mouse!" replied simply by saying: I KNOW (very calmly and aparently used to the mouse's presence).

It was shocking for us and we still have goosebumps when thinking of that situation, so we just paid in a...

Very unwelcoming and rude with a horrible attitude. Upon getting a table after a long time, we waited for at least 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Upon after calling for someone atleast twice, the person yelled at us saying, "This is not McDonalds!". Upon placing a smaller than usual order, the person yelled at us saying, "That's it? That's all you're going to order?" in an extremely condescending manner. After taking the order he's yelling and gossiping about us to his co-workers in front of everyone, about how little we ordered. It was so embarrassing when all the other people were looking at us. We realised it's not safe for us to be here when this pattern is going on, so we decided to cancel the order immediately and leave. Needless to say, he used abusive language at us and yelled at us while we were leaving. Extremely humiliating. As a chef and a hotelier, I understand that it could get frustrating for a server/management /owner to deal with people of different cultures in a busy area, but for someone to put down someone who is being patient, well-behaved and adapting with a different culture, you're doing a horrible representation of your workplace/business. I've noticed how the management responds to the negative reviews here in a crass manner, with threats to report their review. I would just say this with as much kindness as possible, if you really think you're above McDonalds or some brasserie, you need to behave well and sophisticated to have a successful business, and create a good experience for customers who visit. This behaviour would only be justified to an extent if I were misbehaving or causing a nuisance- none of which either me, or my family members were...
