Overall I enjoyed the meal. I dined solo eating the following: Hunan Style Pork: 4/5 Eggplant in fish sauce 5/5 Crispy Chicken: 4 1/2 /5 Meat Dumplings: 3/5 Hunan Style Pork was good but not spicy enough; Eggplant was superb consisting of fried slices of eggplant sauteed with fish sauce; Crispy Chicken, whole reminding me of tonkatsu, would have been better without the white sauce and with the tangy dark brown sauce the Japanese use; Meat Dumplings were okay but not spectacular, a bit too doughy, with the chili oil not being spicy (and oily) enough for my palate. The chili oil was also too liquidy and runny. (I was forced to use my own chili oil after having fortified the restaurant's chili oil with my own chili flakes.) I also ordered one bowl of steamed rice and one ice tea drink. I departed the restaurant sated but, for the most part, a bit underwhelmed. Quantity was reasonable but the Chinese flavour was, for the most part, subdued. The menu has many fine items while, thankfully, is not focused on inner body parts of pig as in some Chinese restaurants catering to a largely Chinese clientele. It is good that there were no extra add-ons tacked onto the bill. The sum paid for the number of dishes ordered was within the envelop of reason but was not a bargain either. Comfortable seating but I did not notice, on the ground floor at least, the type of round table with a revolving carousel so functional for sharing food in groups. Service was fine. The two waitresses were friendly. Upon my request, I received disposable chopsticks. You can easily order in English. After a few days of being in Tbilisi we were craving comfort food… nothing says comfort more than Chinese food. In Deng Sheng, the food is well prepared with generous portions. But the service is just below par. I’m starting to think that it’s not one place or another… for a country in which Tourism is the main source of income, little is done in the way of the tourists. The waitresses here were inpatient and, after thinking we had made a mistake with the order because of the communication barrier, they turned plainly rude. I’m disappointed about our visit. Food is great and the workers are very friendly! The blonde waitress (we didn’t ask her name) was really welcoming as we just arrived in the city, she helped us out with lots of recommendations for what to order and also where to visit in the city like good clubs and bars, we really appreciated this!
