I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Georgian wine tasting at Karalashvili Wine Cellar, and it was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment we arrived, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for an unforgettable experience. Our host, Salome, was incredibly knowledgeable and deeply passionate about Georgian rich winemaking heritage, one of the oldest in the world.
Salome shared the fascinating history of the Karalashvili family’s winemaking tradition, as we sampled a selection of exquisite wines. The white dry wines, including Tsinandali, Kisi, and Krakhuna, were exceptional, each showcasing the love and dedication poured into the craft. The red wines, Saperavi and Kindzmarauli, were equally impressive, with Saperavi standing out as my personal favorite.
The setting added to the magic of the experience, with stunning vineyard views and a cozy ambiance that made the tasting even more memorable. The pairing of delicious local Georgian cheeses perfectly complemented the wines, adding an authentic touch to the entire experience.
To end our wine tasting experience on a perfect note, we were treated with delightful shots of chilled chacha, a strong Georgian brandy often referred to as "wine vodka," "grape vodka," or "Georgian vodka/grappa.
If you’re planning a trip to Georgia, a visit to Karalashvili Wine Cellar is an absolute must! This wine-tasting journey is a delightful way to immerse yourself in Georgian culture and savor its rich traditions.
Thank you, Salome, for curating such an exceptional and memorable...

Read moreI had the most wonderful experience at the private wine tasting hosted by Dea in Tbilisi, Georgia. From the moment I arrived, Dea made me feel completely welcomed, her warmth, passion, and deep knowledge of Georgian wine traditions really made the experience special.
She guided us through several incredible wines, each with its own story and character. What stood out most was how she connected every glass to Georgia’s rich winemaking history from the ancient qvevri clay pots used for fermentation to the 8,000-year-old traditions that make Georgian wine so unique and other ways of making Georgian wine.
The tasting itself was intimate and beautifully set up — cozy, and paired with delicious local cheese and olives and chacha (a Georgian spirit). Dea took time to explain not just the flavors, but also the meaning behind each wine and how winemaking is woven into Georgian culture and identity.
If you want to understand why Georgia is called the origin of winemakinh, this private tasting with Dea is the perfect way to do it. You don’t just taste the wine, you experience the history, hospitality, and heart of...
