I asked if I could leave a small stack of printed poetry-photo cards for the community, with some brief information on how to help a family in severe need during a global humanitarian crisis, who happens to be Palestinian. I'm working with a local Georgian-based human rights group. One staff member shamelessly told me he didn’t care about the issue; his bar mate covered it up by claiming the business was “neutral.” This so-called neutrality is what turns local businesses into spots of empty gentrification, fabricating an art leaning and 'socially conscious' image. I followed up with them on Instagram as suggested with no response. If you support this kind of handling of community matters, stick to gentrification. Read moreCool and chic cafe near Rustavali subway station. Popped in before a day tour for my morning caffeine fix. Given my coffee experiences im Georgia so far I remain sceptical of each place. The place offers meals and a variety of coffees too. I ordered a latte, and expectedly, it was weak and milky. I requested the barista to add in an extra shot, which he very willingly did. However, he did add that a latte is considered a single shot while a double makes it a large cappuccino. Nevertheless, the extra shot helped, and I paid 8 GEL for that. Much better value for money...
Read moreBig disappointment. The place itself felt unsanitary with completely dirty floors and humidity marks on the ceiling everywhere. Really uninviting and almost offensive to those in the specialty coffee industry. One thing is to be "alternative" another is to think that unkempt locations like this can be "cool" if they charge full price for quite mediocre coffee in a dumpster of a location as long as they try to do latte art....
