Honestly, the best dining experience I had while in Germany, and I . My band and I popped into Dolcini on a whim and our only regret was that we were not able to return before heading back to the States. The food is wonderful and beautifully authentic, and the wine and grappa selection is a perfect accompaniment. The portion sizes are generous without being intimidating and we found to be satisfying without feeling overwhelmed. We all thoroughly enjoyed the selection of dishes we ordered and found them to be excellently prepared and delicious. The restaurant is cozy and intimate without feeling crowded and the ambiance is elegant without feeling formal. However, the best part of the evening was owner/host, Mario. Mario immediately made our little misfit group (in varying levels of piercings, tattoos, and unnaturally dyed hair) feel right at home. Somewhere between puckish rogue and suave Casanova, Mario was an endless fountain of jokes, friendly chats, pure charisma, and disarming smiles. (Needless to say, each and every one of us was immediately and hopelessly smitten!) Mario treated us like treasured family and took wonderful care of us, including providing multiple espressos on the house after noticing one sleepy member of our party. I can't wait to return to Berlin again, if for no other reason than to visit Dolcini again. Absolutely would recommend! Plan carefully, though! They are often busy (deservedly so!) and are closed...
Read moreWell, I don't like writing reviews but this case pushed me to do that. We were totally shocked by such unprofessional service while visiting this restaurant. First, we were waiting for our food for more than 1h. When we asked the waiter about why so long, he brazenly responded something like - this is your fall that you didn't ask to bring your food earlier. Sorry but WHAAAAT? He started explaining to us that our friends had ordered soup but the problem was that we didn't and we were waiting for an hour with an empty stomach until they brought us something. In all restaurants around the globe, waiters ask visitors if they want to get all dishes simultaneously or separately. I think this rule doesn't work in this restaurant. Then, when we left 1 EUR tips for this arrogant waiter, he was smart enough to go outside and meet us in the street and say something like Hey! You forgot something, here's your 1 EUR and threw our coin. Dear owners and admins of Dolcini restaurant, please check this review and make something with your co-workers. Such waiters should be instantly fired or explain how to talk and work with visitors. This is not a cheap restaurant or fast food; we paid 50EUR for two persons. We attached photo of a waiter so you can...
Read moreWe read about this place online as we were looking for somewhere close by to eat and saw the good reviews and just stopped in. Mario greeted us at the door and asked if we had a reservation, and when we said we did not I could see he was stressed because they were busy, but he was super cool about it and seated us right away. We were very lucky too because a few more parties came in right after us without reservations and he said he couldn't fit them in, so we were just super lucky to get a table. Lucky indeed we were as the food we ordered was just phenomenal! I'll be thinking about the gnocchi al caprese I ordered and the shrimp pasta my fiancee ordered for a long time. Mario was extremely nice and funny. Great food and great service, what else can...
