I don't really understand the negative reviews on here about peope being rude. I found this place the first night here and went back four nights running, always had courteous service. If you'd like to dip into what seems to be a genuinely local Berlin bar for people who actually live in Berlin this is a good place.
Low key, lo-fi, relaxed and open. Had a couple of really interesting conversations with the locals - reminscient in this respect of smaller Parisian bars. I reckon it helps if you make an effort in the language; one night there were two guys in from Melbourne who'd been living here 6 months and still had to ask the barman what cheers was in German - come on guys it's not asking for fluency...
If you want a jumping party this isn't the place but if you're open to chilling out and maybe even having unexpected and interesting...
Read moreI have been at Hackbarth's a few times now and never had a problem with it or any of the bar staff. However last night (Wednesday) we had the most terrible and rude service. Usually I don't have a problem with rude bar staff, but she was on another level and really went out of her way to give our table the worst service. Amongst a few unnecessary comments and actions from her part, it was when she demanded a tip from my husband when he went to the bar to order two drinks himself. So if you want a rude bar lady and slightly over priced beers, then Hackbarth's is the place...

The woman at the counter dissed me for not drinking alcohol send us back and forth complained that our table did not order enough gave me too little change constantly had this annoyed and grumpy attitude that makes you feel uncomfortable
