This place is a dream! We came here because of the giant Xiao Long Bao but turned out, that’s not the star of the show. We had (highest to lowest ratings):
One Meter Noodles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So, so, so good! We had it with Cha Siu (bbq pork) and it was scrumptious! The noodle was chewy. The sauce was packed with flavor bomb. I just wish it was spicier 🌶🌶🌶 (or at least had an option to add more chili myself)
Calamari ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I didn’t expect the grilled squid with oyster sauce to be this good! It was flavorful and perfectly cooked.
Giant Xiao Long Bao ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - was pretty good
Mochi Eis ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - all three flavors were amazing. My favorite was matcha
Xiao Long Bao (4pc) ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ - wish there was more broth in each dumpling. 2 out of 4 bursted before they came to us.
Shao Mai ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ - nice texture but not enough flavor
Pan-fried Jiaozi ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ - there wasn’t enough caramelization crust going on
Wasabi fried shrimp ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ - the shrimps were fired to perfection. I just needed more kicked from the wasabi sauce. It tasted just like mayo.
Roasted beef with Ni’s sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - the beef was good but there wasn’t much going on
Overall it was a good dining experience. The food was good, the atmosphere was nice, and the service staff was so lovely. They were very attentive even when it was super busy. Highly recommended to check...
Read moreSadly dissatisfied after my second visit. Had to be seated at the bar because we were only two and therefor it sends the message we are not enough value for a table. How about installing smaller tables? There looks like there’s Enough space for it. Hooks under the bar would be helpful for coats and bags. I dragged the laundry basket over. But hey, that’s their style, and I’ll choose not to join next time. For a Chinese restaurant I’d recommend their cappuccino and martini expresso. Unfortunately there’s just a general vibe that I don’t like, which is really disappointing because i really wanted to like this place. firstly €1 for tap water is just uncool, unwelcoming. Second and most importantly the Hainan chicken is not served with standard green scallion ginger sauce. Sorry I’m out. That’s a deal breaker. I was prepared to be kind but that just looses it for me…and so I will now say while the Biang Biang noodles are fine - there are far better elsewhere in Berlin. And I’ve had my fair share of Biang Biang around the world. Go here as a last resort and if you don’t care about the things that matter - ginger scallion sauce - or paying Berlin prices for basic Asian street food. Didn’t try more than these two dishes and drinks but these are the canary in...
Read moreThis trendy Chinese spot is in a great location near Hackescher Markt and has a really modern and hip interior! There's lots of space inside and the owners have made a conscious effort to foster an artistic vibe which we liked a lot!
There is a varied menu with a range of dish sizes (and prices), but we found the main page the best bet for what we were looking for which was of course some spicy Chinese noodles!
I felt that the wide flat noodles here are really authentic with some high quality chili oil and leaning on a minimalist approach which is really good if you're looking for the real deal. It may not necessarily be your thing if you don't like the simplistic combination of chili oil and noodles, but that said there is plenty on the menu with more of a diverse mix of ingredients, and you can add-on different things.
The customer service is generally very good for Berlin. The staff are all quite young and fit in with the trendy, cool style of the restaurant. They pleasingly offered free tap water which will be necessary (or some other drink) because the food is indeed pretty spicy!
In summary, it's a stylish and authentic-leaning restaurant in a great location......
