Los Angeles transplant here so I automatically have credibility đ So yeah, good luck finding shrimp tacos in Berlin⊠well good news this place has them and theyâre truly 10/10 tacos. The rest of the taco meats are also excellent and authentic. Iâm not sure why the quesadillas are called gringos, but whatever, theyâre great too. The location is perfection, the atmosphere is bright and fun (albeit Las Vegasy), the service is super friendly, the drinks selection is great (Jarritos!) and the salsas are excellent too.
A few minor (and one major) gripes that I hope the restaurant fixes asap: First, there are no tortilla chips. Thatâs not a typo. No chips whatsoever despite their housemade flour and corn tortillas. This is blasphemy, especially when the menu literally includes illustrations of (you guessed it) tortilla chips. UPDATE 7 SEPT 2024: They now have chips and guacamole! Upgraded the 4-star review to 5 â€ïž
The portions are also on the small side as others have mentioned, so one order of tacos probably wonât fill you up (especially without chips).
Berlin is also starved of a good a burrito, so Iâd love them to introduce burritos eventually.
A lot of reviewers are also complaining about their no cash policy⊠big deal. Get with the times. Itâs annoying to see great restaurants downvoted because of petty stuff like that.
TLDR: Amazing new taco addition to Berlin rivalling the...
Read moreSpent the day enjoying the sunny weather in Berlin, and just when we thought it couldnât get any better, we ran into Taco & Gringo.
And to be honest, any time I see the word âgringoâ or âCancĂșn,â on a restaurantâs name I automatically go đ and expect a flavourless, meh recreation of Mexican food⊠but man oh man was Taco & Gringo a nice surprise.
The âbistekâ (aka beef steak) was super tender and flavourful, the chorizo really authentic (although a bit salty), Ben absolutely loved the shrimp, and the salsas really added the cherry on top đ¶ïž
We also enjoyed a nice agua de horchata (rice water), side of guacamole and a Modelo đș
The atmosphere was also super nice. And the restaurant packed up QUICK! So note, there may not always be somewhere to sit.
We will definitely be coming...
Read moreThis restaurant opened not even a month ago, and I had heard loads of good things. When you enter, itâs feels literally like stepping into a fiesta: pink and yellow decoration, lucha libre posters and neon signs lighting up the vibe.
We were able to experience the taste of Mexico with their tacos and gringos (similar to quesadillas). Thereâs many fillings to try âsteak, chicken, prawns, chorizo, and also vegan!
My favourite was the Pulled Chicken Gringo, and the Camaron (prawn) Taco
The prices are fair for the portion size, especially for the gringos. 3 gringos for 9-11eur... and you're full! Plus, the staff is really friendly!
