Ca'D'oro | Ristorante & Pizza Napoletana — Restaurant in Munich

I honestly don’t understand how this place has so many positive reviews. After experiencing it myself, I went back and read the negative reviews — and I agree with the comments about the extremely slow service.

On top of that, the restaurant made no effort to accommodate a child. We asked for plain noodles (something they should easily have available) and a simple scoop of ice cream, but both requests were flatly refused. Instead, we were told, “These are the pastas we have, and these are the desserts we have.”

At one point, a staff member was screamed at so loudly by management that she walked out, which should never happen in front of guests. I’ve worked in kitchens before, and while I understand the stress in the back of house, the front of house should never be exposed to that.

I also understand that restaurants may not change menu items, but if that’s their strict policy, it should be clearly noted somewhere on the menu. And before anyone assumes this is a cultural misunderstanding — I live in Austria and have been to Germany many times and know how things typically work here.

We were a group of 10, and booked 2 tables separately (2 different bookings)… when we got there, the guy was super arrogant and said he cancelled one of the 2 bookings, because both were made from the same IP address, and they dont encourage group bookings. The idiot said one group of 5 people can sit, and the other can wait till the first 5 finishes. We ended up walking out and they ended up losing out on a 400-500€ bill!! Will never go back there and this is for all folks thinking of going there. The food maybe whatever as per the reviews, but a restaurant is all about good service as much as its about the food. And especially when you are on a holiday, you dont want morons spoiling your day… Have never had an experience anywhere in the world where half the group was asked to wait till the others finished (even though there were tables available).

Dont go there if you want to have a good time with family...

As Munich local usually I don't visit restaurants in the neighborhood of the main station but this time I made an exception for special reasons ... First we noticed nice atmosphere with pictures from Venice and a friendly (Italian?) waiter and we got a table without having reserved. So far, so good. The menu offered various choices - off course Italian cusine. The price range was above Munich average. After nearly 50 minutes we got our pizzas which were okayish. Well, you could have an argument if 6 sardelles on a whole pizza buffo are okay or too few. Unfortunately no mitigation / treat was offered as excuse, suggestion here: offering a Grappa during waiting time or afterwards had been a nice gesture. As the delay was not the mistake of the waiter we intended to add a tip to the bill - "sorry, tips only in cash". So the likelihood that we will recommend this...
