If you're anywhere near the area, Yamas is an absolute must-visit. Tucked just a few steps from the beach, it combines stunning location, excellent food, and warm hospitality into one unforgettable dining experience.
Let’s start with the food — truly top-tier. The menu is surprisingly extensive, offering something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for Greek classics, comfort food, or something lighter and fresh. I highly recommend the pizza and gyros — they’re on a whole different level. The pizza has a perfect crispy-yet-chewy crust, with just the right amount of char from the oven, and the toppings are fresh, generous, and well-balanced. The gyros were also phenomenal — perfectly seasoned, juicy meat wrapped in soft, warm pita with fresh veggies and creamy tzatziki. You can tell they use quality ingredients and care about every dish that leaves the kitchen.
The prices were another pleasant surprise. Despite being so close to the beach — and honestly, with food this good, they could easily charge more — everything was very reasonably priced. It's the kind of place you could return to multiple times without breaking the bank.
The service was top-notch. The staff were not just friendly, but genuinely welcoming, with big smiles and great energy. It didn’t feel like customer service — it felt like we were being hosted. Our server was happy to walk us through the menu, offered great recommendations, and was attentive throughout the meal without being overbearing. You can tell that everyone working there takes pride in what they do.
As for the atmosphere, it’s hard to beat. It’s casual but stylish, with a laid-back beachside vibe. You can sit back with a drink, enjoy the sea breeze, and soak in the energy of the place. Whether you're coming in for lunch after a swim or winding down with dinner and a glass of wine, Yamas hits the sweet spot between relaxed and lively.
Overall, I can't recommend Yamas enough. Whether you're a tourist or a local, this place is a gem. Delicious food, fair prices, an amazing team, and a great vibe all come together to make it a...
Read moreVisit 11/10/22. I absolutely can not recommend this place on any level. It looked busy and appeared to have a good atmosphere. This is what attracted us to Yamas. We ordered wine and soon after ordered our food. When the order went in, Ouzo arrived at our table. The wine came quick enough. Someone who we believe was the proprietor was talking to customers, who he seemed to be on very friendly terms. The food was a long time in coming, we asked on several occasions and were ignored on several occasions. We had drunk our wine, and the Ouzo supplied and still no food. After asking again where our food was, it appeared. After such a long wait, the food was a big disappointment. My partner could not finish her meal. The pork she had was full of splintered bones and grizzle, partly burnt and undercooked? And was very under underwhelming. She left what she obviously could not eat. It was at this stage that the individual talking to customers enquired of my partner why she had not finished her meal. She told him as it was, that it was not edible, and he started to argue with her. Worse still, he looked to me for support, which was and would not be forthcoming . His behaviour did not go down well with either of us. His attitude came across as extremely sexist. Needles to say we can not recommend this...
Read moreVisited in May 2023 at dinner time and chose this place because of the good ratings. Sad to say, the first experience was far from 5 stars, especially the slow service and the enormous mount of time we had to wait things to happen.
Food is very basic and mediocre greek food, nothing to complain or praise about, so 3/5. Same goes with the prices. We waited our appetizers (tzatziki and bread!) over 40 min even the restaurant wasnt full and it wasnt the high season. After waiting for 1 hour we got the main dishes, basic greek food for two. When finished, had to ask the waiter for the bill few times and it still took over 20 mins to bring it to the table. At any point during our 2.5 hours stay nobody asked how the food tasted, if we would like to order something more to drink or maybe desserts. They just brought the bill to table and vanished although there were only few customers left in the restaurant.
There definitely was enough staff present, but obviously they didnt care and were uninterested, were busy doing something else e.g. discussing with old regulars. All in all, a bad experience and not worth to visit again - there are MUCH better places in Rhodes Town if you want to have good greek dishes and friendly and professional service, try for example Old...
