Valentine's evening ruined by slow and inefficient service. Our evening started promisingly, our booking was confirmed at the front desk and we were taken to our table, our waiter came immediately, gave us the menus, he was friendly and seemed to be efficient. A second waiter later appeared and took our order, he was formal and courteous. Our starter arrived in quite good time, and it was delicious, it was the shared tasting platter, including humous and some other small tasting dishes, all very nice. The empty plates were taken reasonably quickly, and then we waited and waited for our mains, we were starting to get irritated, there were lots of waiters around, they seemed to be busy, but nobody taking care of us. The second waiter who took our order had previously topped up our wine glasses a couple of times, but this then stopped, we had to top up the wine ourselves from then onwards. Finally our mains arrived after a very long time, no acknowledgement of it being a long wait though. The mains were good, well cooked, well presented, very tasty. We then sat for a very long time staring at the empty/dirty plates infront of us which were not collected, despite lots of waiters rushing around us, they must have seen the plates. Many times they went back into the kitchen empty handed. At this point we were getting tired and just wanted to leave, we had been there about 2.5 hours for 2 courses, we usually like dessert but none was offered, and we just wanted to get out of there by then anyway. I had to wave to a different waiter to ask for the bill, and I was slightly annoyed to see a compulsory service charge added. I was too tired to bother questioning it and highlighting the slow service. We just paid and left. Final point was taking the coats, they put them on a small coat stand, and they then got buried under lots more coats as the night went on, so everyone is touching your coat to get to their own, not what we wanted. We had hoped for a special Valentine's Day experience but sadly the slow service spoiled our evening. The Head Chef and Restaurant Manager need to sort their act out or they will surely...
Read moreA newly opened restaurant with many problems
I went to have dinner in that newly opened restaurant. When I arrived the waiter didn’t even know in which restaurant I wanted to have dinner. He placed us into the bar of the hotel until I told him, that I want to have dinner in the restaurant. I asked to have dinner, somehow he was irritated and didn’t even ask me where I want to go. The seating is very nice, everything looks very luxurious but it has not an atmosphere of a Lebanese restaurant. The waiter assigned us a round table for 5-6 guests but we were just two of us, I had to tell him that I want a smaller table. In my opinion, that’s a no-go. The new table I choose was unstable and they should have fixed it. I was sitting inside and not outside, so there is no way to justify that matter. The menu of the restaurant doesn’t fit that hotel, there were no vegetarian options for the main courses. I ordered the Beiruti Hummus because the waiter recommended that instead of the normal one, honestly there was hardly any difference to a normal hummus. It had some tomatoes and parsley… the other mezze was as well not very surprising. I had the halloumi, spinach Fatayer, and hot potatoes. None of them was really convincing. However, the main dish I got was the grilled kafta and that was good. The main dish had also from my point of view not an optimized presentation for that location, they served normal french fries, they could’ve used other types of fries for a better presentation and could add some additional sauces. I didn’t get any dessert, because I was a bit frustrated with the dishes before. Additionally, the hotel should know that the vessels you use to give us on the side for olive oil, molasses, or lime aren’t functioning, because the oil and molasses have a high viscosity. I wasn’t able to use them. Altogether it is an average restaurant not with the best taste and needs an...
Read moreOne of the worst restaurant visiting in Budapest. During the restaurant week we decided to choose this place. They suggested a fixed menu+surprise coffee. Of course, we didn’t get this “surprise”, but it was not a problem. Then they wanted to cheat and simple not to give us the prescribed portion (4 mezzes) saying that only 1 mezz is served and we need to choose. It was a weird move as the menu said it was 4… After forth time they said that we were right and 4 dishes were served. Actually, the appetizers were not that bad, so thank you for that, but then… we decided to order Hungarian wine (kekfrankos). We tried this type of wine not once and it was okay, but I don’t know what was that wine… I would be ashamed to serve it to the guests. Felt like rotten grapes diluted with huge amount of cheap alcohol. We felt only high acidity and strong spirit taste. The temperature of serving the red wine was also wrong, it was very cold. The meat in a main dish was dry, the dessert Un Ali was extremely dry and tasteless. This Lebanese restaurant was the 6th Lebanese restaurant which we visited and I can say that it was a shame! Such a disappointment! The staff was also inept. The table was set incorrectly, waiters didn’t even know basics (which side to put bb plate, which side is dish placed on, which side to put a glass of wine). I would say nothing if we would visit a random bistro, but if your market positioning is “luxury” and “restaurant”, please be so kind and show it. We paid without any comments, but we will never come back here and never recommend it to anyone. Only one thing was good and that’s why I can give this place 1 star - the view to the Buda castle. I’m very sorry for the money spent, but even more for our...
