Went there for a pub quiz. The bar staff were polite. The drinks were a tad expensive (around 1,400ft and over for most of them) and the venue doesn't have a pub feel - for me I felt it lacked soul and character which is what should be at the heart of the pub. I think this place has a lot of potential but the owners are holding back from splashing out on decorations and comfy seating.
The quiz was really unenjoyable, it felt more like having a test at school than a quiz due to the quiz master's strict attitude, stoic sense of humour and narrow field of questions only about what the guy was interested in.
EDIT: Thank you for your detailed response. I look forward to returning to see your living room area.
Standard Hungarian beer Soproni was 750 ft which is still more expensive compared to all the other bars in the area. I don't know what best attended really means (other quizzes in BP have bigger turnouts, have been running longer, have consistent attendance). I am Irish, I love quiz and I love a dry sense of humour so 🤷
I forgot to add: attendance cost of quiz was 1,000ft. AFAICT prizes were merch from Guinness suppliers. All staff wore masks and for the quiz there was table service which helped to prevent crowding at the bar and movement during the questions. They didn't have a mobile card reader/terminal so if you do pay by card they can take your card to the bar to pay contactlessly and give you a receipt. Hopefully they'll get a card reader for extra...

I had a strong desire to watch Champions League football and decided to come here—what a brilliant decision that turned out to be! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by two lovely ladies whose beautiful Irish accents instantly made me feel welcome. Their charming dulcet tones set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
I spent a few hours here, enjoying perfectly poured Guinness while soaking in the warm and friendly atmosphere. The vibe was cozy and inviting, making every minute a pleasure. To go with the copious amounts of beer I consumed, I devoured their sticky chicken wings—hands down, the perfect antidote. Crispy, flavorful, and downright delicious, they were a match made in heaven with the stout.
This place truly felt like a home away from home. It’s no surprise I’m already planning my return—this evening, in fact, to catch Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa match.
Without a doubt, this will be my go-to spot the next time I’m in Budapest, and if you’re looking for a great place to unwind, it should absolutely be yours too!
Highly recommended for anyone craving good food, great drinks, and a...
Read moreOriginally I gave it 4 stars, because it's not exactly mind blowing or anything. You shouldn't visit Budapest to eat or drink here. But then I was thinking to myself: Budapest would be a much better place if I could name 10-20 places like this, but I really can't. I can name places where the food is better, the restroom is shinier, but not a lot where you'll feel like it's an honest, decent place, by people like you for people like you.
In many Western cities, this would be good, solid or just decent. In Budapest it's rather unique. An island of the West, Ireland to...
