During my recent dining experience at Kelly's Wok, situated near the Central Synagogue in Budapest, I was pleased to discover a buffet-style haven for Chinese cuisine enthusiasts. For a reasonable 15 Euros per person (excluding drinks), the restaurant promised a culinary journey through an array of delectable dishes featuring chicken, duck, and beef.
Upon entering, the reception and atmosphere set a positive tone for the afternoon. The restaurant's commitment to cleanliness was evident, providing a comfortable and hygienic environment for patrons.
The diverse selection of Chinese delicacies showcased a fusion of flavors, highlighting the authenticity of the cuisine. However, it's worth noting that vegetarians might find their options limited, as the emphasis leans heavily towards meat-based dishes.
While the culinary adventure had its highs, a noteworthy concern surfaced with some dishes arriving lukewarm or, in some cases, cold. What struck me as peculiar was the use of a microwave to rectify this issue – a practice that seems out of place in a restaurant specializing in wok cuisine.
Despite this hiccup, the restaurant managed to maintain a reasonable price-to-quality ratio. The affordability of the buffet, combined with the variety of flavors available, contributed to an overall positive experience.
For those seeking a culinary journey through Chinese cuisine at an accessible price, Kelly's Wok near the Central Synagogue in Budapest remains a viable option, despite the occasional...

although it has some nice ideas that I really like about this place. The place is big and clean enough to say and eat comfortably, The restaurant is air-conditioned, The main idea that you pick what you want and as much as you want to your plate is awesome, Even tho it is a Chinese restaurant, you can find rámen, sushi, and simple fried meat as well as many others, the selection is really great. They speak not only Chinese but Hungarian and English as well for certain, most of them fluently, which is a great selling pont to me.
However. The first time I ate there the chicken meat was so dry I could knock on the table with it and the rice was soggy from the juice of the corn, just to mention a few, The second time we went a little later, around half past noon, the situation was the same in general: The rice was fine but everything was cold already... -... and to microwave a simple dish for 1.400,- HUF is not really alluring. Not to mention that waiting on the line with your tray in hand is very uncomfortable.
All-in-all the idea I found great, but will not return for a while.

Read moreI have been to Kelly's Wok two times already and I would personally say it is a good place. There are two options: buffet for 6990 forint and "one plate" for 2600, I tried both and would recommend to choose "one plate" as it will be more than enough for the adult person. If you buy a buffet, after one plate you will regret it as you will be full pretty fast. There are different kind of foods there: big variety of chicken, potato, rice, all kind of deep fried vegetables, sushi, rolls, a little of fruits, a little of cakes. Before coming, I recommend to buy something to drink in Spar, which is in 1min from there because you will definitely like to drink and the prices for soft drinks there will be slightly higher than in supermarket, they have a free water though.
So overall, it is an actually good place if you want to try a lot of different food and pay okay price for it. Definitely recommend and will comeback myself.
I will also appreciate a biger choice of sweet stuff (cakes and dessert) and fruits from...
