P. S:- The photos that I have shared are not from the breakfast buffet but from the executive lounge. As an Accor Club member, before my holidays I was desperately looking for the best hotel in Budapest and after checking a lot of reviews I finally landed onto this branch of Novotel. So bear with me as I will elaborately explain everything to you.
Best hotel for groups (family with kids & friends) as well as couples!!
Staff is very professional. Some are outgoing, some keep to themselves. But when we asked where we can get a travel card the lady seemed to have no idea. Generally hotel staff helps the tourists. So the only area where they could improve is make their staff a little more engaging with the guests. Also there's a travel ticket machine right opposite the hotel near the bus stand. It accepts credit card as well as the Hungarian Forint.
Service is impeccable!!
Coming to the food as in the breakfast buffet, it's more than perfect.!! Yes they didn't have people cooking live omelettes but they had so much more. Breakfast menu was gluten free (at least 5 different types of bread) , lactose free and there are many options for vegetarian and vegan people (soy milk etc.). Lots of fruits, nuts, cereals, meat, salads etc. Moreover they have sandwich maker, toaster as well as daily different dessert options (waffles, sponge cakes etc.), tea maker and three coffee makers. Breakfast starts at 6:30am and can go till 10:30am.
We even had dinner here on the last day and it was fantastic!! No regrets. We had goulash soup at 5 different restaurants and Novotel Goulash soup was one of the best.
Coming to the rooms, our room was extremely clean. We had recently been upgraded to gold status. And the cleaners are so professional that they don't touch a single item belonging to you even as they clean. I have never seen carpets cleaner in any other hotel before. Hardworking staff I really appreciate. Our bathrooms were always cleaned and towels replaced. The bathroom and toilette are separate. The bedsheets were spic and span. We also had many different tea options as well as one coffee maker in our room.
Since it's a palace hotel the interior is also a sight for sore eyes.
If you have the executive lounge access make sure you go there and reap the benefits. There's a lot for you throughout the day. I have shared photographs of my stay.
Moreover this hotel is located very near to one bus stop, Blaha Lujza tram & métro stration which makes travel quicker. Opposite this station they have a currency exchange centre at a great price.
Many restaurants are located within 2 km radius. There is one supermarket right next to the hotel if you prefer making your own food. H&m and other shopping outlets are near the tram station.
All in all if I come back to Budapest I will stay in this branch of Novotel itself. Thank you Novotel for a...
Read moreTraveling very frequently around the world and staying at least 150 days of the year in the hotels, i rarely make mistakes about choosing the hotels. My choise of hotels vary between budget to very luxurious. I visited Budapest twice before this one, and stayed in 3 hotels other than this.
While choosing this one i though it might somehow be good because they had the Executive Lounge. So i booked a room with lounge access.
When I checked in, the receptionist was unattentive and showed no interest to my Accor Gold membership card. Didnt give any upgrades and most importantly didnt mention the executive Lounge happy hour times. I assumed it would be 6-8 pm as many of the hotels all around the world apply. I went there around 6:55pm but they already started to collect whatever was available to eat, and there werent much things though... i was the poorest lounge i had ever seen until today... not only that but the lady who is supposedly be serving there was extremely rude.
On the other hand in the room the bathroom and toilet are seperated, which is not acceptable for me. I asked the reception for a room change, they said they only had 3 of the rooms in the entire hotel which had them together, i littereally begged them for it.
Then in the morning they gave me a much bigger room with same amenities witj the bathroom i wanted.. thanks for that, but as beeing a gold member i should have been offered that room during check in 😡
The Breakfast was all right, there is 1 good freshly grinding coffee machine, the other 4 are the ones that add hot water in to concentrated coffee. Freah waffle and pancake station was good. However there should also be an egg station addition to that.
It was a good life lesson to learn not too book rooms in the same hotel for a longer vacation. I had to stay at this hotel because i had already paid nonrefundable for 4 nights.
I don’t want to say bad things about for everyone in the entire Hungarian Hospitality employees. Because I had seen perfect ones also in Budapest on my previous visits in different hotels.
The hop-on hop-off tickets they sell at the reception are the chepest in the city, however the busses are more crowded that the other two companies. My experience Big Bus company had more frequent rides and more available seats The river cruise, is not a must do, but if you have time to kill in Budapest you can do it.
Wi-fi was 5/5...
Read moreRead moreOverall good value and location when visiting Budapest for a short time. Check-in - The lady at the reception (I believe she is Norwegian, 8-10 Oct morning shift) was wonderful, professional, polite and capable of her job. She was helpful, clear in communicating and responding to our questions, and "no-fuss" during the check-in and check-out process. Access of cleaners and overall security - I had a bad experience on my first day when someone (I was told it was one of the cleaners) barged into my door and slammed it shut really hard, breaking the lock-chain in the process. I felt unsafe during this time as I was only settling in the room, my things and valuable items were still all over the places near the door, and I was inside the bathroom about to take a shower. The 'cleaner' could have at least knocked and listened in through the door first (TV was on), and realising that he/she made a mistake, he/she should not have just ran off without resolving the broken chain that he/she caused, the door hanging about and the guest now left unsecured because of the broken chain and open door. I had to call in the nearest hotel staff (2 or 3 rooms down) to help and the technical / repair man came swiftly . The receptionist was apologetic and reassured me that they have reported this to the manager on duty and it was one of their cleaners. Not a good first day at all, so I always left a water bottle on top of the door handle during my entire stay. Cleanliness - Cleaning needs some improvement and was not very thorough --- passable and serviceable. I can tell from the bathroom and the bed that it was not done up to high standards. Restaurant service and food - The servers and all assistants in the restaurant were great during our entire stay. We had this booked for our event of 100 people. Meeting rooms are good and met what we required for the two days. Breakfast offered good options. Lunch and dinner included some traditional Hungarian dishes so those were much appreciated by guests who did not have enough time to explore outside the conference/event and go around Budapest for traditional food. Overall - The above are in line with expectations of most Novotel chain hotels. Read the details of my review above and compare with your own research of other alternatives so you can make your...
