Wee Nam Kee — Restaurant in Jakarta

Been coming to this chicken rice shop for many years already. The place is oftentimes packed during lunch time but since it has a large seating area, so can easily do walk-ins. Apart from the obvious, Hainanese Chicken Rice menu, the shop also offers other chinese style dishes as well. I always opted for the Hainanese Chicken Rice set which comes with 1/4 boiled chicken, rice, soup, & iced tea. There is also the roasted chicken option. The chicken is always juicy & rich, and tender. It is seasoned lightly so it doesn’t overpowers the chicken taste. The rice is also flavourful due to being cooked with chicken broth & herbs. It all binds together with the soup that it is served with. I also always get a portion of Cereal Prawns to share. It contains around 5 big size prawns and cooked just right. The cereal is nicely done, savory and sweet taste, with slight heat from the bird’s eye chili. The team is attentive and service is quick, which are plus points in my POV. Definitely going to be coming...

Heard about the new branch of Hainanese Chicken Rice that has just opened at this mall and decided to make a trip there. Upon reaching there, there was a crowd of people loitering outside which I reckoned was the people waiting for their tables.

Went to the waitress to ask for a table and she was confused as to the wait time and she seems very flustered. Then I saw a couple who just nonchalantly took a seat at the table and proceeded to help themselves to the menu. Then the clueless waitress asked another waiter who was supposed to be "in charge of seating" to serve me, at which I complained that the couple just helped themselves to the table without queuing. He didn't even look at where I was pointing and said that they were in his wait list. I just couldn't believe him and so left to spend my $$$! somewhere else.

First place to go whenever we miss Singaporean chicken rice! 🍗🍚 Both the steamed & roasted chicken are good, but personally me & my friends prefer the roasted ones. Fragrant steamed rice with tender & juicy Roasted Chicken in savory soy sauce always make a good pairing. The soy sauce is light yet flavorful which taste even better with the rice. You can also choose which chicken part you want, thigh or breast.

We found the chicken portion sometimes quite small so we usually order the delicious Prawn Omelette, which portion is good for sharing with 2-3 people, and sautéed vegetables. Don’t forget to add the chili sauce, it’s a great companion for the chicken.

The ambience is casual & cozy, good for groups or family dining. The price is quite affordable & there is a 10% discount for Sinarmas Bank cards. A must visit especially if you love hawker style...
