I had a really bad experience at Taeyangsung Grand Indonesia. I specifically ordered from the non-shrimp menu, but my food came with shrimp in it. As someone allergic to shrimp, this is a serious issue.
When I complained, the staff only said “sorry” and even tried to justify it by saying “but the broth has shrimp anyway” which was never labeled on the menu. If you put shrimp labels on some dishes, then naturally customers assume the ones without the label are safe. That’s the whole point of having the distinction.
What’s worse, there was no proper SOP to handle allergy cases. No urgency, no seriousness. The staff even smiled while I was explaining the problem, which felt very unprofessional and disrespectful.
And to make it worse, they gave me a 50k voucher as a “compensation.” Like… what? (Not gonna take it anw even it’s 1 million” The amount is not the point here. They didn’t even ask how I was doing, whether I needed anything, or check on my condition at all. I once complained to Grab about food poisoning, and Grab immediately called me, asked about my health, and even offered medical assistance until I got better. That’s the kind of standard SOP Taeyangsung should learn from.
For comparison, I used to work in a restaurant in the UK for 2 years. There, allergy cases are taken extremely seriously. If the kitchen made a mistake, they’d immediately panic, report it properly, and even call an ambulance as a preventive measure even if the guest was still okay. Meanwhile here, there was not even a sign of panic or responsibility.
This is not just “bad service,” this is a serious...
Read moreWe've been to Taeyang Sung for a couple of times already. It's our to go restaurant for a casual korean lunch.
We ordered:
Dalk ganjeong - deep fried chicken glazed with sweet & spicy gochujang sauce, with fried garlic topping and vegetables. Addictive!
Chicken tangsooyook - korean style deep fried, sweet & sour chicken with assorted vegetables. The chicken was cooked perfectly, not soggy at all even after we drenched the sauce over.
Jjajangmyeon - black bean sauce chewy yellow noodle with onion, beef, egg & pickle on top.
Bokkeum haemul jjampong - stir fried korean noodle with creamy sauce & assorted seafood. Umami, strong seafood flavor.
Dalk baek jjampong - chicken & vegetable noodle soup with with creamy & savoury broth. Suitable for kids.
Gyodong haemul jjampong - korean spicy & savoury seafood noodle soup. Flavorful and umami, with mussel, clam, squid, prawn & vegetables.
All the food was tasty, umami and delicious! If you like vegetables, you'll love it. All the dishes were generous on the vegetables. The soup broths were seemingly light but actually intense and flavorful.
A must try for...
Read moreI LIKE THEIR FOOD SO MUCH. I went two times queueing for more like 30mins due to ramadhan break fasting, and I wasn’t regretting it at all!!
I ate jjampong, kkanpungi, jjajangmyeon and tteokpokki and not one of them failed, they are delicious. even the jjajangmyeon as a take out, it was cold but still delicious I didn’t understand how.
the first time I went there the waitresses were so helpful and kind! however, the second time I was served by a waiter and he didn’t serve as nice as the first one, but it was not too much of a deal since he was still properly serving me as well.
the ooonnnlyyy minor inconvenience was the kimchi, it was soooo yummy but we only served like one small plate? and it was such a hassle to ask for refill since I was with three more people and we all liked the kimchi.. and we were told we were only able to refill 2 times, but we were four people in total…
overall, four thumbs to this place! will def come back when I don’t have to queue (lol). thanks for the good...
