I went here for Sunday brunch about 2 months ago and was severely disappointed for a number of reasons:
When we first reached the cafe we were shown to a table upstairs, despite the booking having mentioned twice that we required a wheelchair accessible table. There was no lift or way for a person in a wheelchair to get upstairs. Luckily, the person in a wheelchair wasn't able to attend.
The group booking was initially for 10 people, but 2 people were unable to come. The table we were shown to was big enough for 4. We had to ask for another table and extra chairs. We were given 2 menus between the 4 of us that had arrived first. When everyone else had arrived we asked for more menus and were given only 2 more and we had to pass these around. We also weren't given enough cutlery for everyone and had to ask for more.
I ordered the French toast, which I was told wasn't available despite it being only 1.30. I ordered a croffle with fresh fruit cream instead.
Myself and another girl ordered tea, but as hot water with teabags on the side. When our tea arrived the waiter asked how we wanted the teabag on the side as they were in the pots already. We had to explain they were supposed to be on the side without having been put in the pot, to let us make a weaker cup.
Everyone else had received their food but there was no sign of my order. I asked about it and was told it was on the way. After another few minutes I was given a parfait which isn't what I'd ordered. I told them this wasn't for me and that I'd ordered the croffle. It took another ten minutes and someone else at the table reminding them of the order before they brought it, by which time everyone else was nearly finished.
The croffle was completely covered in canned whipped cream which was sickly sweet. As it had clearly been put on the croffle in a rush and while it was hot, the cream had half melted in a yellow puddle on the croffle which made it very soggy and unappetising. There were very few berries included also. I could only eat a few mouthfuls at best, and regretted this.
Another girl at the table had ordered the pistachio cream croffle which was also covered in canned cream and had pieces of pistachio on top, rather than a pistachio cream. She also said she felt unwell after eating it.
During the meal we asked for more tap water as this hadn't been left on the table in a jug. The waiter brought this in a teapot and while I'm the process of pouring it, the lid fell off and water went all over him.
The idea behind the decor was good, with nice large bunches of bright flowers in the middle and corner of the room. However, these attracted groups of diners to stand in front of these for ages taking photos so it was difficult to move around or go to the bathroom without being in a photo. The room was also quite loud and echo-y as there was no soft furnishings other than the flowers.
Overall, I...
Read moreLovely experience at Bloom's Café! I went with two friends.
Bloom's Café has a lovely interior with floral decorations and ample seating. It has a nice vibe! Very clean, a nice upstairs and a nice upstairs bathroom too.
I went with two friends and we each ordered one savoury brunch item and one treat. I tried a croque monsieur croissant which was lovely! My friends tried the avocado toast and the eggs benedict waffles, both of which were generous portions. They were all plated up beautifully too.
The desserts were gorgeous too. We sampled Bloom's famous mango dessert, which was perfectly light and not too sweet. It had a lovely mango flavour, and the crisp white chocolate shell complimented it perfectly. We also tried the layered matcha dessert which was equally visually beautiful. It could perhaps have done with being sweeter in parts, but perfect for any true fans of matcha's distinctive flavour! The real star was the pecan brookie - a gorgeous, thick and decadent brownie perfectly complimented by a crunchy cookie and pecans.
I ordered a matcha latte too, which tasted very good quality and was very well prepared. My friends ordered a coffee and my other friend ordered an iced matcha latte.
The staff were very friendly, specifically one girl with red hair and gorgeous and unique jewellery! She was very kind and provided us with good service too.
Overall, it was a lovely experience and I would recommend...
Read moreFirst time trying out this new cafe right beside me. Aesthetically, very impressive and quite surprisingly so, especially upstairs. Coffee is served in a dainty little cup but without sugar. No sugar bowls left on table either. I have to wait a few minutes for a the waitress to come back and ask her, I ask her and then wait another 3 mins for her to come back with the sugar. By now my small cup of coffee has gone cold. No sign of the sausage roll I ordered either. Waitress reappears carrying a tray to another table so carefully and slowly it may have contained explosives. She sets it down on the wrong table and asks the room who ordered what. I mention that I'm still waiting on a sausage roll and 6 mins later a guy from downstairs serves it saying they are super busy downstairs. I'm not sure if that's an apology? As the coffee is long gone I ask for a glass of water, he says sure. The sausage roll is only lukewarm which in unappetising and the glass of water never arrived. Meanwhile the poor waitress is still wandering around the room loudly asking who ordered what. Other customers were mainly young Asians who were filming and taking pictures of the "aesthetics" the whole time so seems to me that this is merely an instagrammable location fronting as a cafe. Otherwise it's absolutely woeful service and quite expensive for very...
