So, I learned my lesson in the busy area of town with a night life that just keeps going. If it’s late and you’re in the Temple Bar District, MAKE reservations. Luckily, I did around 8PM on a Sunday night, and we managed to get in by 9:15. It’s a small place that gets packed and you really have to squeeze in there to get good and comfortable. Since the place is so small, and crowded, it can get very loud inside. Add to these two factors, and the Italian accents are very heavy on some of the servers and they talk very quickly when trying to explain the menu specials. Nonetheless, they were very patient with us and explained the items multiple times until we could finally hear them and understand what they were saying. So here’s what we ended up with: Ravioli special (€19.50). The ravioli were stuffed with filet mignon, served in a chianti sauce, and topped with generous chunks of prosciutto. It was benissimo! I was told this dish changes often since it’s a chef homemade special, so check with your waiter. Pappardelle Ragu (€16.50) with ham spirals and a pink creamy bolognese sauce served over linguine noodles. TONS of wine selections abound, and they have a few beer options available as well. Please don’t let me scare you away with my description of the place being crowded and loud. You WILL want to check this place out. The food was top notch, and so was the service. And it’s a good change of pace from the few Irish traditional dishes that are available around town.

I booked a table for 4 people at this restaurant - it’s really tiny and I’ve been here before but I was shocked at the seating arrangements. We were seated at a round table right in front of the door, like directly in front of the door and we were smack bang in the centre of the floor with a tiny space for wait staff to move around us. There were tables directly behind ours and almost rammed up to the other members of my party. No one seated at the other tables to my left could leave or move around the restaurant, ie, go to the toilet without asking one of our party to move. The table was also right beside a pillar with the pillar between two members of our party. It was awful. I refused to relinquish my coat because it was absolutely freezing outside and a blast of cold air hit my back every time the door to the restaurant opened - which was a lot. We all complained about the seating and after around 20 minutes, were moved to a table in the corner which suddenly made the entire experience much more doable. The food was great and three members of my party said they would return but only if they weren’t seated at the table we had first been placed at. I however, was the person who suggested the restaurant and made the booking and I won’t ever return here based on the original seating arrangement. If my pals want to return, it’ll be a party of 3. I don’t care if Il Vicoletto give me the food for free. There was no doubt in my mind that the first table we were seated at, was added as an afterthought (and to make more money). It was also a fire hazard. Utterly disgraceful in every way. I will be relating this story to friends/foes and every single person in between to advise them not to go to Il Vicoletto. Sardines would have turned their noses up at how tiny and uncomfortable the original seating was. One man seated beside the first table, actually fell over on top of one of our party, narrowly missing drinking glasses. He was trying to extricate himself as he made his way to the toilet. I...

Quite disappointing. We made a booking via phone. When we arrived they asked for Covid19 vaccination certificate and we showed to them. They also asked for ID which is fair (but they could have reminded us when we rang to book a table). I showed a picture of my partner's one that I had in my phone, but because I couldn't find a picture of mine straight away, I showed my debit card with my name on it. Still they weren't happy so I kept looking under pressure. I understand that's the protocol, but a polite person who doesn't want to loose a customer would have offered to sit down and look for it without stress. Plus they didn't even scanned the QR in the covid cert. We said that we were going to a different restaurant and they showed zero interest in keeping us in. At the end I found it so we stayed. We got the worst table in the middle, the local is so small and noisy and people from other tables were very close to us. The food wasn't the worst but we had to wait quite a long time in between dishes. I paid more than 20€ for my main course which were literally 5 tortelloni. And they didn't have Tiramisu for dessert which is almost insulting in an Italian restaurant. To make matters worse, I realised that they were giving free shots to all the customers at the end of the meal, but we paid our bill and they didn't bring us anything. My partner was about to stand up and leave but I asked the waitress are the shots free? And then she brought us two. Sadly, I feel I threw 96€ away. I don't mind pricy restaurants if they have good quality and you enjoy the full experience, but I wouldn't go back...

Im really disappointed in this place. We were looking for somewhere to have some food with our children and we came across this place, It had an early bird menu advertised outside on the window and it seemed reasonable enough so we decided to go in, when we enquired about early bird the waiter told us oh there was no early bird, you will have to order from menu so not sure why it's advertised outside? He seemed quite friendly so we decided to go in anyway. The first thing I asked him was if they could do childrens portions as my daughter is only 6 and wouldnt eat a full adults meal, he said no they don't do children meal, but they could definitely do something for her and not to worry, anyway so that was fine, anyway food arrived, can't complain, it was very nice, when the bill arrived we found he had charged us full main price for her, when I queried this with another waiter he went to our waiter and asked him about it, the original "friendly" waiter just said we don't do kids portions and didn't bother even talking.to us. The other waiter was quite embarrassed and did apologise to us. I was so annoyed. My point is not that they don't.do kids portions, and that is absolutely fair enough but please just tell me that, if I had of been aware of this, my daughter would have just ate some of our food as we had ordered three adult portions and I certainly wouldn't have paid 17 euro for spaghetti bolognese for her. Its a pity the waiter resorted to doing this, there was no need for it, so just be careful if you go in there and make sure it doesnt...
