Our whole experience was just ... terrible. I dont have words to describe it. Me and my husband like to do menu tastings all over the world when we travel, and tonight we decided to visit Six by Nico because it was on the Michelin list. We sat down at 7:15 pm, a lovely couple was sat next to us soon thereafter. They got menus and complimentary champagne ... we did not. Our server was walking around doing everything else, but not coming to the table. Finally we get our bread/butter and first course from a different server (champagne later). Our server comes by and introduces himself (tall, red head guy - he likely mentioned his name but it was very loud and difficult to hear) to both tables at the same time.

From this point on:

The food delivery was completely off.. lovely couple next to us would get two courses one after another, while we had to wait for our next course to come out. Timing needs improvement. Also, I have to mention, a total of 3 servers and a bartender were serving our little section of 3 two tops (6 ppl). Confusing for us and staff, created chaos.

Our server was obviously struggling.. could not name all of the ingredients, was reading off of the menu. Apologizing for not knowing what was right in front of him.

Food was simply not great. Some dishes came out cold. We should probably thank our server for that. It seemed like a lot of lesser ingredients attempting to make a premium meal.

Had to ask for appropriate utensils for the dish (black hole needs spoon).

Loud atmosphere, at some point bartenders were fighting between each other until a third bartender stepped in and de-escalated the situation. Air conditioning was working like we were meat in a freezer.

There were extensive waits between dishes. It was very slow. That didnt stop the server from pushing us out as soon as possible though. In fact, our last course was served with the check. The couple next to us actually received their check before dessert. At the very same time, we were kindly delivered two shots of espresso. The plates hadn't touched our table - we were quick to say we didn't order it. It was the second mix-up with the table next to us. They felt it was best to serve it to us anyway and get a second set of espresso for the table that had actually ordered it... At least they didn't charge us? Thanks... I suppose?

So we finished our dessert and put our card on the check, and thought that our server would cash us out, but instead he wandered about for a bit before finally making it over to us to say the following: "I'm sorry to do this to you, but I must ask you to leave, we have people waiting for this seat. Two hours is enough time. Please go to the host stand to pay." I'm still shocked...can't believe it escaped his mouth. We'd been nothing but kind all night about the extensive waits...and then pushed out within seconds of our silverware hitting the plate. Alas, we went to the host stand to pay. She tells us that their system is down and she will have charge our card on file in the morning. She also asked to keep our check to charge the appropriate amount. Still not charged. I feel like the whole thing should be covered. After the experience we had...it eludes me how Six by Nico made it to the...

False advertising and a few other bad issues. Went there after seeing videos on social media but the reality is quite different. Example- the desert (with hardly any garnish compared to the video adverts) was not flambéd at the table (nor anywhere else) for "a dramatic end to the meal". This resulted in the desert being not nice and soft like the video, instead being rock hard as it was just taken from the freezer- could not get a spoon into it !! almost needed a hammer and chisel. Some dishes were lovely like the eggs & potato, but again, the potato is not from a salted dough like in the adverts, it a spud on top of a some solid salt dough balls that have no cavity and have never seen a potato. The ham hock was fabulous, as was the aranchini. The cuttlefish dish was really not nice (very strong smell/taste of "not fresh" cuttlefish, which should be a very subtle flavour). The Bao bun beef was SO over seasoned. Pure salt/soy sauce that stung your tongue! The piece of steak served had sinew going right through it- dreadful in meat not slow cooked as it remained white and stringy and ran lengthways so I couldn't cut the meat, just tear it apart. The headphones with the cuttlefish dish (for sensory effect) didn't work, nor could the waiter find any that did ! At least a dozen he tried were broken. The face mask provided for dramatic sensory effect was covered in someone's sparkly make-up ! The place itself is just OK, nice seats and decor but extremely noisy !!!. Some people seated right beside the door with an ice wind blowing in every time people arrived (with large crowds being left waiting and door half open) Service not great as they missed a dish (we had to tell them) and got wine pairing wrong serving desert wine too early and with the wrong dish. On the plus side, they coped well with an unusual allergy and replaced dishes without issue. To top it off, the soap dispenser in the gents is aimed directly at your crotch ! So instead of soap in my hands I got a nice stained crotch on my trousers to walk back in the restaurant with. Told the matre-D but no offer to pay for cleaning them despite the soap stain that was left on them. Worse still, a staff member told me it happened to him - but they hadn't removed it or changed it, which is mind blowing (knowing a problem but not addressing it). Not sure if I can recommend. We thought we were going to get good value for money but not really. Ultimately, lesson learned about watching social media video adverts. Perhaps it'd be different in an independent restaurant but not in a restaurant chain like this. It's obvious they've gone too big to control quality (especially across...

This was my first time dining at Six By Nico, and the theme was the New York menu. As a vegan, I found it a bit disappointing that they only provided a vegetarian menu, so I never knew what I was getting until it arrived. This made it difficult to request any adjustments if there was something I didn't like. It's frustrating as a vegan to feel like we're expected to just make do, while others had the option to ask for alternatives if they didn't like the meat dishes.

The food itself was generally good. I particularly enjoyed the potato rosti, which was incredibly flavorful. The pasta dish, the vegan substitute for the pastrami sandwich, was also enjoyable. However, I found the "everything but the bagel" seasoning course extremely disappointing; it was overly salty, the vegetable choice was odd, and the sauces didn't complement the dish. The dessert was overly sweet for my taste.

The service, unfortunately, was quite poor. Despite dressing up for the occasion and the venue being beautiful, the wait staff's attire was inconsistent, making it hard to identify them. We had multiple servers throughout the meal, which felt impersonal and confusing as they didn't seem to communicate well with each other. Our main waiter, whose name we never learned, appeared confused and out of sync with the rest of the staff.

After we had already had the experience explained and ordered, the waiter came by to repeat the process, which we had to interrupt to clarify that we had already ordered. The waiter frequently hovered around our table, interrupting our conversations. At one point, they asked if we wanted dessert or coffee while we still had two courses left, leading to more confusion, as the waiter then clarified they had just meant if we wanted tea or coffee, not dessert.

When they asked for feedback, I mentioned the "everything bagel" course was too salty and not enjoyable. The response was, "Yeah, sorry you didn't like it. Not all of the themes are great." This felt dismissive. I also mentioned the dessert being too sweet, and they just nodded without any further comment. Then we were promptly asked about the bill, emphasizing a rushed dining experience.

It's clear that the restaurant aims to move guests in and out quickly, so if you're looking for a place to relax and savor your meal, this isn't the right choice. The staff need more training as the service felt chaotic, impersonal, and poorly coordinated. Overall, the experience was disappointing, feeling more like a rushed transaction than a pleasant...

We decided to try 6 by Nico as we had heard a lot of the hype and a friend had dined in Belfast which she had found to be a good experience. Ok, so firstly we were greeted by a queue at the door, which in fairness could be seen as a sign of how popular the place is but in reality it was just annoying as it was raining. When we got in we were greeted by a very energetic/ friendly member of staff who promptly took our names and on seeing that it was a special occasion ordered two glasses of Prosecco that where given to us complimentary, so that was a big thumbs up! Once we got seated we were explained the menu and the concept etc and we were very excited. We were offered some popcorn to start. Here’s where things started going wrong. The popcorn was full of un popped corn and the corn it self was quite unpleasant. The first course arrived and I was a little shocked at the presentation and the size. It was quite small which I suppose is to be expected for a tasting menu but the paper cup it was served in was very unappealing and not easy to eat from. The liver parfait was over powering and there wasn’t enough sharpness from the raspberry and gel. The next course came promptly and was explained by the staff member (each course was explained by the staff member/ different staff member) unfortunately it was another case of style over substance. It was ok, I couldn’t really taste the beef as the burger sauce was a little overpowering and the dish wasn’t that well balanced. The chicken dish which followed was mediocre at best, the fish dish was slightly disappointing as the little crab ravioli was actually prawn and the fish portion was tiny (the bisque lacked any depth of flavour). The sole was ok. The final course was the duck and this was probably the best, however the side dish wasn’t properly foamed and was lacking flavour ( could have done with a bigger portion of duck). Unfortunately no course blew me away or was overly memorable ( it might have been enhanced by the drink pairings) but I don’t drink. The dessert was fine but again didn’t have any exceptional notes. My partner had the recommended cocktail which he thought was also lacking! Overall a nice pre-theatre dinner experience but more style over substance, and left feeling a little hungry and unsatisfied.

So, I’ll try to be detailed yet concise. This is a restaurant that cosplays as an upscale dining experience with very inviting tasting menus. However, it’s not - it’s a chain restaurant from Scotland. There’s no amazing chef in the back calling the shots and designing beautiful menus and tastings - it’s a chain who are selling the exact same menu in several different cities at the same time, meaning they are using the same plating techniques, the same food, and the same uniformity for worse, not better. This food is no way being freshly prepared and is most likely pre cooked and then heated and played. The first sign that something is off is it’s a €50 6 course tasting menu - you’re not getting quality here. My girlfriend and I were so excited to come here and were immediately let down the moment we took a bite out of the snack which was a fried Mac and cheese ball. It was absolutely bland and nothing to write home about. What followed was an absolute pretentious, horrible attempt at a tasting menu. The theme, Neverland, may have well not been a theme at all as it had nothing to do with Neverland, Peter Pan, or even Hook. One of the courses, a play on a ham and cheese toasty contained no bread whatsoever let alone toast…it was a rectangular slice of Quiche Lorraine sans crust. Literally a warm slice of egg with some sauces prettied around the plate. It was actually quite sickening about 5 mins after consuming. The rest of the course were mostly slops of liquids, creams, foams and gels with the only solid piece of food being the chicken (tasted incredibly processed) and the cod course which was actually delicious to be fair. The staff in the Dublin restaurant were fantastic and the only thing holding the place together. My girlfriend and I both left quite literally feeling queasy the whole way home and regretted not taking our €144 elsewhere.
