I’ve been a regular at this restaurant and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, our most recent experience was very disappointing due to an interaction with one of the servers.

We decided to have lunch together as a family (7 people). Everything was going fine until my wife politely pointed out that a dish was missing for one of our guests. To our surprise, the server responded in a tone that we both found unnecessarily rude.

This left my wife momentarily speechless, as the tone and reply were so unexpected. Instead of clarifying or showing empathy, the server immediately followed up with, ‘Do you understand?’ which only made the situation more uncomfortable.

We decided to finish our meal and not let this incident ruin the moment with our family.

Once we finished the meal and got to the register to pay the bill, I calmly approached the same server to express that we found her earlier reply quite rude and asked what that reaction was about. Rather than apologizing or clarifying a possible misunderstanding, she immediately pointed at my wife and said, ‘Maybe she’s very sensitive. I was helping, and I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t need to apologize.’ - something we didn't asked for!

At this point, my wife was understandably upset, and I asked her to kindly start going outside with the rest of the family.

All the other staff appeared mortified for the behavior of their colleague, which we appreciated.

Before leaving, I made one final attempt to clarify and de-escalate the situation with the server. I very politely and calmly said, ‘I understand it’s a stressful job, and this may have been a misunderstanding, but it would have been nice if you acknowledged our concerns and clarified things with my wife.’

Despite my calm and respectful tone, she continued to defend her actions, refusing to address the situation constructively or show any empathy.

This is very unfortunate because we’ve always liked this restaurant, and the rest of the staff appeared genuinely sorry for the accident.

I hope management takes this as constructive feedback to improve training and ensure this doesn’t happen again, as it reflects poorly on an otherwise great establishment.

.

A simple apology or a show of empathy costs nothing but can fix almost anything. It’s a shame it wasn’t...

Don’t waste your time; way overrated. They claim to be friendly to food allergies, but charge you for everything and you get a lot less. Super disappointing and overpriced Veg Irish Breakfast; if you’re looking for Veggie Irish Breakfast, go to Lovinspoon instead for 10x the quality at 1/2 the price. I’ve made loads better at home. I asked for gluten-free (not a crazy accommodation); they charged $2 for dry, store bought GF bread, while they excluded the Potatoes and Pancake that comes if not gluten-free. Why the extra charge? They never told me there would be an upcharge to accommodate my food allergies. There were no mushrooms, and the tomatoes were raw 4 cherry tomatoes, not broiled or seasoned like you otherwise get for Irish Breakfast. The avocado is mashed and not fresh. I’ve made loads better at home, not for €20! Also, I asked for a side of soya milk with the €4.5 tea, and they charged me €1 for what was a 1/4 cup serving of milk; that upcharge should be for a latte or other espresso drink, not a couple tablespoons of milk. The beans were about 1/4 cup and not satisfying. With the no potatoes (I discovered only when it arrived), I asked for more beans. They didn’t tell me there would be yet ANOTHER charge. When I got the bill and it was double my expectations, I asked them to take some of the extra charges off. They would only remove the extra beans charge that again was a surprise and I had to argue with her, which was crazy… The dining area was overheated and dated. Nice enough staff overall, but for the issues of not actually accommodating...

I have eaten at Murphys multiple times over the last few years, anytime i find myself in dublin for an afternoon I usually have my lunch there.

my partner and I ate there today (Saturday , 6th of July) at the busiest time ive ever seen Murphy's, each table packed too the max and food flying out from the Kitchen. Regardless of the intensity, and heavy flow of work, the staff were friendly, polite and professional.

we ordered the ham and cheese sandwich, one each, for 12.50€ each, considering we we're in dublin, 12.50€ would usually grant you a basic sandwich and handful of chips. we were pleasantly suprised with a chiabata style roll, filled too the brim with ham and cheese, neither overpowering the other in a fantastically flavoured sandwich, along with which came a decent sized bowl of fresh chips that were excellently crisp and seasoned perfectly. all tied together by a garlic mayonaise side sauce that really put a perfect cherry on top of this some would say, 'Basic' sandwich.

Each time i go too Murphy's i always expect, and am granted the same , Friendly and professional staff, excellent food, delicious coffee, all at a reasonable and...

Googled Murphy's Bistro Cafe for the best breakfast in Dublin, before we left home. So we headed here first thing in the morning, well about 8.15am, as we had an early flight into Dublin. The Dublin express coach dropped us by the O Connell Bridge and Murphy's was across the bridge and 50 yards up the other side. Love the interior styling inside here. Great that you could see through the serving hatch and into the kitchen, and the chefs busy at work preparing the food👌 We chose the full Irish breakfast, ah you have to 👍 Lovely tasty breakfast, side dish of toast and butter and a tasty cup of tea. The food came to our table very quickly, from ordering, they are very efficient, as it was busy. Staff were very polite and friendly, a great service👌 I would recommend reserving a table to be honest, as this place would become very busy! When we came out, a Hen party was coming in, about 20 ladies! So it is a very popular place to come to and I would recommend coming to Murphy's.☘️💚🇮🇪

Brilliant. Went there early since I read some reviews stating that the restaurant is quite small and often crowded. By doing so (=around 5pm) we were fortunate enough to have a good table and the full attention from both the waitresses and what I believe was the restaurant manager. All smiles, happy to understand Norwenglish and quick to help when needed. The food = 👌👌👌 Beef & Guiness stew for me. Best version so far. (Think I need to find a good recipe for this when I get back to Norway...) The stew had been boiling away for many hours and was just so tender and niiiiice! Wife's food was Sirloin steak. Lot's of mushrooms and onion. She rated her dish 4.5*/5. Mine was a 5*, easy. 🤘 Ps, the last photo. Best compliment you give a chef. An empty, almost licked plate.

This place was outstanding. The food was out of this world, service was better than most and the interior was beautiful. I had the Irish breakfast and could not finish it. The bacon was exactly like I have it all the time at home, cooked softly not crispy. The hash brown was like no other. It came with mushrooms but did not eat them. My mother ate them at said they were great. The blood pudding was earthy and not bad. The sausage was very good and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My wife had the pouched eggs. They were perfectly cooked for pouched eggs. But the part that was great on her plate were the potatoes and the cheese that came with the dish. I would recommend this place for breakfast for sure. We will probably be back on this trip for breakfast.
