Amici di Ponte Vecchio is an absolute gem in Florence. Stefan, the owner, could not have been kinder, his warm personality and top-notch customer service made our visit unforgettable. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich (Cancro) and he suggested adding mushrooms, which turned out to be a delightful addition. I also enjoyed a small bottle of Chianti, with the option to have it served room temperature or chilled, such a thoughtful touch.
My husband went for a custom panini with pesto, mozzarella, and porchetta, and it was incredible—bursting with flavor, herbs, and all-around mouthwatering. The portions were generous and the quality outstanding.
The establishment itself is small, as many places in Florence are, with a few indoor seats or space to stand at a small bar that fits about six adults. Outside, there are petite wooden benches. Don’t be fooled by their size, my husband is 6 feet tall and 240 pounds and sat comfortably.
The atmosphere, food, and warm hospitality make this spot a must-try. To top it off, just steps away you’ll find a stunning view near the Ponte Vecchio. Truly an experience you don’t want to miss while...
Read moreWe walked by this place after strolling round the streets looking for an authentic Italian sandwich shop and were invited in by the owner providing us with samples of the bread. Well… this was more than enough to get us hooked! I had the ‘summer’ sandwich and my partner had the ‘Capricorno’. Both sandwiches were freshly made with each component being perfect! The meat was flavourful, the salad was fresh and super tasty and the bread was just incredible. But overall what made the experience amazing was the wonderful man who made it all. He was so super lovely and welcoming and when we return back to Florence, this will definitely be our first stop. Thank...
Read moreTruly the BEST sandwich place in town. We had it 2/5 days in Florence and couldn’t have it a third because it was closed. The owner offered us a piece of bread while we were looking at the food options and absolutely got us there. That homemade bread IS DELICIOUS! I loved the contrast of flavors on the ‘gold specialty’ sandwich. My boyfriend tried two others and loved them also, especially the one with spicy salami. I would recommend it to anybody that is looking for an authentic and local place to eat lunch in Florence. Price-quality was reasonable ($5-6 so even cheaper than other places in town that were not as half...
