I usually refrain from writing negative review, but this one left a bad taste for me. We found this restaurant because of ease of accessibility, decent prices and good reviews and were in general excited to try some Florence local food. We were given a seat on the inside as we didn't have reservation, which I highly appreciate. The food was decent, I especially liked the antipasti plate which had chicken pate, ham and salami. But 2 things just didn't work for me. First was that they refuse to serve us tap water which basically meant that we HAVE to order expensive drinking water or wine and secondly we were charged 1.5€ per person cover charge in which we didn't even get the bread the cheese(which is customary in Italian restaurants). Now everyone around us had a basket of bread at least no matter what they ordered. When I brought this up to the manager, he said that he doesn't speak English, which is not true because he did speak in English when we came in. He asked one of his server to talk to us which made it super awkward for her and for us. I explained my concern and she admitted that the bread "is included in the cover". Now I'm not gonna bust my ass about a measly basket of bread but the negligence in our service and the rudeness of the manager is completely uncalled and unexpected. I have been eating all over Italy and generally had a very good experience in all the restaurant, but this one is surely an exception. Walking out of this, I couldn't remember the taste of the food, because it was all ruined by the weird behaviour of the manager and the negligence...
Read moreWorst experience ever! I had come here multiple times and it was my favourite restaurante in Florence Pasta is 20+ euros which is absolutely ridiculous for a trattoria We ordered the Cappellacci with pear and figs and it was 3 pieces of pasta with a sauce that i could have easily cooked myself (im the worst cook you could find). It was also cold and 22€ We told them it was uneatable (my partner is italian and thought this was a disgrace) and they didnt even ask what was wrong or offered anything The second course was a tartufo steak. 10kg of tartuffo with zero taste. Believe me, if that was actual tartufo you would be crying with the scent and taste but it was some sort of fake stuff on top of a meh stake. 30€… LOL 3€ for the coperto and a lame piece of paper on the table as if it were McDonalds when it used to be a proper trattoria In total 51€ two people for sharing a stake (as they obviously didn’t charge for the uneatable pasta) Absolutely won’t recommend it anymore Such a shame that an iconic place like this have...
Read moreIf you go here, and I wouldn't, get the steak. It's fine, tender, if not obviously different from a T bone anywhere else in the world, whereas the other dishes we tried would have been more at home in an underfunded American high school canteen.
The ravioli with butter and sage, specifically, was the worst dish I've had in a long time, chalky ravioli (9 pieces for 12 euros) in a lake of melted butter with a few sage leaves scattered on top.
Customers where all tourists, as far as I saw / heard. Unlike some other places in town, this one didn't have the 'rustic dinner in Tuscany' vibe at all, despite having the right decor. Even on a fairly quiet evening the staff was incompetent; the couple next to us, who arrived just after, only placed their orders when we were halfway done with our meal, and then the staff got their...
