My wife took me to a brunch place she visited twice last year, with great expectations. To our surprise we encountered everything going wrong:
Paid 4€ for extra avocado, which was unripe (if it’s hard and inedible, please mention this to the customers). In the place’s defense they eventually removed this part of the bill as it was simply left uneaten.
I am not sure what was so wrong with their coffee - at first I thought the milk was spoiled, but perhaps it’s a dishwasher backwash water - this was the absolute worst Espresso Macchiato I’ve ever had. I’ve had plenty in Italy as well as abroad.
The bathroom was clogged, no toilet paper (it was there, but scattered on the floor). Simply unfit for use at that point.
Both the sandwich (17.5 euro pre coperto) as well as the fried eggs (if I remember correctly, 9€ pre coperto pre bacon pre avocado) were actually not bad. The sandwich was completely filled with oil (presumably butter) to the point I had to go and wash my hands in the unsanitary bathroom.
The service which was previously fantastic really was mediocre at best.
Left with a 40 euro bill for the worst experience we’ve had in this country so far. Giving 2 stars instead of one because the sandwich and eggs were okay, and this is a Sunday so I can only assume it’s harder for the restaurant to keep standards.
A real shame after hearing how they were excellent...
Read moreCOFFEE! THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY… 🤎☕️🤎☕️🤎☕️ Italians are truly artisans in general and especially of specialty coffee!! Coffee in Italy is an experience… Something to be savored and exalted. Ditta Artigianale is an Italian Coffee Roaster with an international vision, and THEY have nailed it! Owner @sanapofrancesco has brought a true micro-roastery café to the streets of Florence with his two locations in a most extraordinary way… A true “Slow-Food” feel, focusing on total transparency, high quality beans and eco-sustainability, married with fantastic locations & ‘scrumptious’ and ‘beautiful food’, this place in not to be missed! While in Florence for a business trip this week, we had the pleasure of visiting both locations on each side of the Arno and sampled their products, we even brought some beans back to the B&B… Who knows… a new experience for our guests…? More on that to come! In the meantime, their avocado toast with bacon, fried egg, micro greens, and pomegranate seeds was next level! Phil’s avocado 🥓and egg sandwich was mouthwatering and to my surprise their marinated pastrami on a bagel with dreamy cream cheese was on par with the “best-of-the-best” Delis in NYC! The staff were friendly… Service was awesome…A truly Artisanal Experience!

Read moreI am intensely into coffee, and this is DEFINITELY among the best coffee places in Europe. As far as Italy itself is concerned, having been as far south as Sardinia area...this group Ditta Artigianale is definitely the best I have had here. Like--not even close to other Italian coffeeshops. It far exceeds the others.
If you REALLY want excellent coffee, including single origin options you definitely will not get elsewhere in Italy, come to one of their locations. I went to two different locations of theirs today, and plan to come each day we are in Florence for sure.
There is sometimes a decent line, but I find it worth the wait. The prices are also fair for something of this quality.
If like me you enjoy small format milk beverages like cortados/gibraltars/piccolos, just order a single origin double espresso and get a small cup of milk on the side...after trying the espresso you can customize thereafter. I tried several varietals (ask which are available) and was impressed by all of them-- you can see two different ones from my pictures attached to this post.
The food also looks great--just haven't dug into it as much yet. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable, and definitely passionate about...
