Shake Cafè — Restaurant in Florence

First the food.

I got the Mixed Brunch Plate. Pancakes were soft and fluffy, eggs were fried perfectly. Potato's were soft and delicious. Rocket salad was... a rocket salad. Maple Syrup was good. Fruit salad... I mean. The fruit salad was good. I just didn't see how it fit in with everything else on the plate. Candied bacon was tasty, although it, in my opinion was overcooked. It had been depleted of any moisture, and was so damn crunchy, yet rubbery enough that it would not cut, so I was forced to eat the strips in their entirety, which is hard task when they're smothered in Maple Syrup(my choice. They didn't pour the Maple syrup).

Coffee... jesus. Finally I found a place in Italy that just does coffee the same way I have it at home. I'm not complaining about the Italian style of drinking coffee at all, I'm just saying it was refreshing to have it the way I normally have it for a change. I had a Macchiato, and also a Flat White. The flat white was perfectly strong, more like a Long Mac(for those from Perth). Both were f'n delicious.

Service.

Ok, so the service was a little confusing. You order the food at the bar, they give you a buzzer, and you wait for it to buzz, then you grab your food from the kitchen window. However, sometimes it won't buzz, and the waiters will just bring your food straight to you. Then for the drinks, they just shout out your order, and you go and get it... unless the waiter just brings it to you. It was just a mish-mash of self service and table service. The staff were friendly enough, and they were happy for me to just take videos and photos. I will say however, the staff all seemed young, and dare I say just bump around minimum wage employees. Nobody really seemed as though they were there for the love of it.

Atmosphere

The exposed brickwork is really nice, and photographable. The decor is pleasant, and you can see they've put thought into the vibe they want. Patrons however are mostly American, and... Americans, contrary to what you think, nobody around you wants to hear your conversation. Yes, we know you just came from Venice, and you're on your way to Amalfi Coast next. Guess what. So did we. Turn your voice down 5 notches.

Anyway, great place. We went back later in the day and got more coffee, and we'll probably be back tomorrow...

La gentilezza di Lorenzo mi ha stupito, non l'avrei preteso di essere servito ed ho apprezzato che lo abbia fatto in via del tutto eccezionale come farebbe un essere umano e non un dipendente qualunque che offre unicamente un servizio... Scambiamo 2 parole e porto via 2 paste, 2 cappuccini, ed un biscottino in omaggio... Cioè pure la gentilezza di un omaggio dopo il disturbo 😭. 2 giorni dopo ci fermiamo a pranzo intorno alle 15, il locale è vuoto, tutto pulito, io e mia moglie ci accomodiamo, i due dipendenti mi riconoscono e sempre con gentilezza prendono le comande. Ordiniamo un "banale" wrap al pollo ed un "comune" sandwich ma ben condito con aggiunte... Ed arriva un piattone "enorme" con un sandwich alto e un contorno che non era indicato (ma non ricordo sinceramente) di insalata freschissima e finemente tagliata a julienne più patate dolci (strastrabuone cavolo!!!!), ingredienti freschissimi nulla da dire. A mia moglie arriva in wrap moooolto condito e saporito l'ho assaggiato anch'io, davvero buonissimo per la sua semplicità. Mia moglie mangia come un "uccellino" e lascia sempre la roba sul piatto così lo finisco io, stavolta non mi ha lasciato manco una briciola 😑. Caffè per fine pasto e il biscottino al cocco che mi hanno offerto l'altra volta (davvero goloso). Buonissimo il caffè Illy dall'aroma rotondo. Insomma che sia per dolce, che sia per salato, per un pasto goloso o per uno salutare ed altrettanto buono, è un posto da tenere vivamente in considerazione, per la qualità, la cortesia, il servizio, la pulizia (cosa a cui tengo particolarmente), i prezzi e la bontà dei piatti che insieme alla "quantità" ci hanno stupito e lasciato soddisfatti. Auguro a Lorenzo e Michele un'impennata della loro attività perché merita e soprattutto perché ce la mettono tutta con il loro operato nel tentativo di conquistare il cliente, veramente complimenti per la filosofia con la quale lavorate. I fiorentini sono cortesi e "umani" in senso stretto, torneremo a salutarvi. Consigliatissimo come locale e centralissimo e climatizzato a meraviglia che con sto caldo ci vuole come minimo. 5 stelle meritatissime. P.s Il voto "7" sul tempo di attesa di riferisce alla preparazione dei piatti, che risulta nella media poiché le preparazioni avvengono tutte sul momento e questo dal canto mio è sinonimo di qualità. Shake Cafe was an unexpected treat during my visit. It was the best place where I could find healthy vegan food. It is heaven for vegans. There are so many shake cafes scattered around the center of Florence. So wherever I was just googled shake cafe and found one 10 minute walking distance. The food, drinks were all delicious. The favourites were: morning shake, sweet potato brunch—I tried both sweet and savour versions and both were great. Also the vegan brunch was amazing especially if you can’t make up your mind if you fancy sweet or savour—it has both (warning: it is a giant plate!) and the harissa bowl and wraps were warm and delicious.
