Matermatuta — Restaurant in Rome

We reserved the table, and asked them if they were okay with small baby. I hope their bad service was not because of the baby or that we're tourist.

First of all, the plates were good. Their antipasto has nice raw fish menu, and mild seasoning makes you taste the material clear. But some people might feel the plates need more flavor, aroma, or accent.

I am not familiar with the area they are located, but the price seemed a little bit expensive, especially for their service.

Only 2 waiters were in the restaurant. They were not friendly and looked uncapable for the amount of customers. They didn't say anything about the plates, when the plates were arriving to table. In the end, they took our order wrong, and served it to our table silently, then left immediately...... The atmosphere seemed casual and nice, but waiters were serving the plates like coffee.

Siamo andati per una occasione speciale anche per via delle recensioni alte. Un ristorante che si trova a fianco di via Nazionale in una parallela carina. Da fuori si presenta bene.

Partiamo con l'unico lato positivo: i piatti e la qualità del cibo. Fine.

Prenotazione alle 20:45 e arrivo all'orario preciso. Siamo stati accolti da una ragazza indaffarata e quindi con poca carineria ed attenzione. Avevamo fame, come è normale che sia per l'orario, ma abbiamo iniziato a consumare una entrée alle ore 21:35, dopo che avevo fatto notare che un tavolo, arrivato 25 minuti dopo di noi invece aveva già ricevuto l'entrée di benvenuto (probabilmente la nostra che per disorganizzazione e poca comunicazione è finito ad altri altrimenti non mi spiego la cosa).

Nessuno ci ha minimamente considerato per 30 minuti, nemmeno il menù è arrivato. Questo per me è inaccettabile. Gli errori li posso capire, ma fregarsene del cliente no. Nessuno ci ha chiesto mai se andasse tutto bene o si scusasse per il ritardo. Non è una osteria, è un ristorante che si considera "in" vedendo l'atmosfera, la zona ed i prezzi. Non c'è nemmeno la scusa che fosse pieno: 12 tavoli presenti nella terrazza interna e quasi vuoto praticamente all'interno con minimo 4 persone al servizio. Il servizio pertanto è molto disorganizzato e non professionale. Abbiamo parlato e siamo stati serviti da 3 camerieri diversi.

Stessa cosa per le comande. Poca professionalità e attenzione al cliente: La pasta ordinata, un tipo particolare in menù, non era presente e siamo stati informati all'ultimo che non fosse disponibile e non al momento dell'ordine o poco dopo, quasi dovendo accettare la situazione e senza offerta di cambio. A ciò si aggiungono diversi errori nel servizio e approssimazione che hanno reso per nulla bella questa esperienza. Il conto è salato per il livello del ristorante. Onestamente pago anche per il servizio (solo antipasto e primo ben 50€ a persona) e non ho problemi a farlo se tutto è eccellente.

La terrazza è mal tenuta con un telo che copre solo una parte (gli altri commensali si devono prendere insetti e foglie degli alberi presenti?) dei tavoli e un patio di cemento che allo stesso modo copre solo una parte di giardino. Il resto è ricoperto con terra e sassetti.

Sconsiglio fortemente questo luogo perché "il soldo non vale la candela" e il cliente va trattato con i guanti altrimenti cambi target. Si mangia bene da tante altre parti dove ti trattano pure con...

We entered here on a whim at 21:30, and got a table. We picked the starter tasting menu (30 EUR), and then two pasta dishes (~15 EUR a plate).

The tasting menu is an unending triumph of all the ways to serve seafood: a lightly seared scallop, a shrimp covered in sesame seed and then deep fried, raw fish wrapped in algae and then lightly fried, a small fillet of panfried fish on a bed of vegetables.

We almost regretted having ordered a main course, as the starters were filling, but the ravioli and green lasagna were good too.

Even though we were stuffed, we just had to try a dessert. We opted for the creme brulee with star anise and liquorice icecream. Not only was it very tasty, but the portion was gigantic.

Wine by the glass was the best we had in Rome.
