As a native New Yorker, I am very picky with good food and am used to high-end cuisine. I was on vacation there a few years ago and by chance ate at this restaurant with my wife and we absolutely loved it!! When I went back again a week ago, I made it a point to go back... I EVEN WAITED UNTIL THEY OPENED JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY WOULD HAVE A TABLE FOR MYNLARGE PARTY... mind you, this was after I ate at many, many restaurants while on vacation in Venice and florence... my party of 9 ate at several Michelin rated restaurants while visiting Italy, but this restaurant was by far the most memorable.!! The menu was THE MOST unique, the ingredients were fresh and complemented each of the many dishes perfectly.. the staff was honest! Pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu. The waiters recommendation was EXTREMELY delicious. I also had the privilege of meeting the owner, who was also pleasant and very accommodating... I cant wait to go back again.. Thank you again for a great...
Read moreThis is about the “restaurant.” I love octopus but during my third time in Venice I had the WORST octopus I’ve ever had in my life, my stomach felt sick after consuming the food here. When I tried to explain it to the waiter he got defensive instead of listening. Additionally, we asked for oil and balsamic vinegar for the bread and salt and pepper to reseason the octopus too but it still tasted terrible. The waiter did a VERY poor job serving us, he never brought little plates for us to pour the oil and vinegar on. The octopus came with some watery masked potato which it was hard to taste with a fork because he never brought a spoon. This was a total disaster and a HUGE disappointment. WE can’t understand how this place is rated so high, they must have asked all their friends to rate this place high, it deserves less than 2 stars. It was a waste of our...
Read moreWe spent a week traveling Italy and quickly realized good food, with great flavor was going to be hard to come by. While Italian cuisine is know worldwide for its many sauces and pastas, meats and fish, it can be difficult to tell which restaurant has truly perfected the tastes of the country. So when we came across Ca’ Leon we were pleasantly surprised. We had three courses, the appetizer, pasta, then the meat. The cod and tomato confit/octopus salad, the cuttle fish pasta/ravioli, and then the lamb/steak. Each course was unique and satisfying. The best we had in Venice.. quite the find.. and what seemed to us like a rare find as many of the food we had throughout the city and many other parts of Italy was rather bland and uninspired. While Ca’ Leon, for us, checked every box! Great food, great service,...
