I’ve just moved to Verona, and today was my first morning in town. While unpacking all the enormous amount of unnecessary things accumulated during my life, I got hungry. I thought about going somewhere for a croissant and found this little jewel. I ordered some top-quality ham (non-processed, properly handmade), two croissants (I must be honest and say one was a bit burned underneath) and THE MOST AMAZING BREAD I HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of that bread, but I think it was something like “pane nero di montagna”, “pane nero di campagna”, or something like that. I’m adding a photo, just in case! 👍🏻😄

I walked in and greeted the shop owner (in Italian) with a smile on my face and then ordered some items (in Italian) - and was promptly ridiculed and scolded by the owner for the way I ordered and for not having exact change. I live in Tuscany and frequent shops like this every single day with no issue.
