This restaurant is probably our number one pick in Verona during our short stay. (Of course, we didn’t manage to try all the restaurants, but out of several top-rated ones we did visit, this one clearly stands out as the best.)
We arrived for a late dinner around 8 PM and were seated immediately without any wait. The service was excellent from the start — we were offered a lovely bread selection with olive oil, along with complimentary water.
I ordered the tuna tartare, while my partner chose the shrimp tartare. For the main course, I had the black pasta, and my partner opted for seafood pasta.
Everything was absolutely delicious. The tuna tartare, in particular, was one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world — easily among the top tartares I’ve tasted throughout my extensive travels. The pasta was also exceptional — perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
As a thoughtful touch, the waiters tied special bibs around our necks to protect our clothing, which was such a kind and attentive gesture.
The view from the restaurant is simply stunning — it’s worth coming here just to enjoy a glass of good wine with that breathtaking scenery.
To finish, we were served a delicious limoncello. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome and...
Read moreSo, you find yourself at Trattoria Fluviale Vecio Mulin, perched right on the banks of the Adige River, surrounded by red-and-white checkered tablecloths that scream “la dolce vita” so loudly, you half expect an accordion player to waltz around the corner any second. The staff? Quick, friendly, and doing their level best to salvage the mood. But what else is there to say? Unfortunately, not much that’s good.
The tuna, served cold as the embrace of a tax inspector, would’ve gladly thrown itself into the river’s rapids if it knew its fate. Flavor? Nonexistent. A sheet of paper would offer more excitement. The chairs? Clearly borrowed from some medieval torture chamber—only suitable for the most resilient guests. And the prices? Ambitious. They seem to be taking cues from restaurants that know what they’re doing when it comes to quality. Here, however, you get the sense someone forgot to do their homework—completely.
Sure, everyone has an off day. But this wasn’t just an off day; it was a total nosedive. So, if you’re looking for a cozy spot by the river—great! But if you’re also hoping for a good meal, you’d better head in the...
Read moreWe had dinner here at the recommendation of the concierge because we wanted seafood, but it was a bit of a disappointment. I think we started off on the wrong foot when the waiter rushed us to order. The best part of the meal was the wine, which was a nicer Vermentino. We ordered the potato appetizer, which came with a really good mushroom sauce. We also had the beef tartar, which was good when I added lemon, olive oil and pepper, but way too big of a portion. For entrees, we had the squid ink pasta with shrimp tartar and macaroni with mushroom. They were both just ok. For dessert, we tried the deconstructed tiramisu which was also ok. The limoncello at the end of the meal was warm. That was a huge bummer. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but this one just didn’t...
