Atmosphere: 9.5/10 Situated in Kitahama, Osaka, KIRIP TRUMAN occupies the third floor of a riverside building, offering expansive views of the Tosabori River and Nakanoshima Park through its large windows. The interior blends exposed brick walls, decorative branches, and antique artwork, creating a harmonious fusion of vintage and modern aesthetics. The spacious layout features diverse seating options, including stylish leather couches and bar counter seats, all set to the backdrop of soft classical music. It’s cozy, elegant, and full of character—one of the most thoughtfully designed spaces in the city.

Drinks: 9/10 Recommended drink: Strange Coco The menu is designed like a vintage book, with each signature cocktail shown on its own page, complete with photos, flavor notes, ingredients, and ABV. “Strange Coco” stood out as a beautifully layered drink with a deep, smooth finish. All cocktails were well balanced and tasted great. Glassware is high quality, garnishes are thoughtful, and the presentation is solid. Coasters are nice.

A wonderful bar situated right along the riverside, allowing for a fantastic ambiance as you sip on some delicious cocktails and whiskeys. If the tables by the window are available, I would recommend sitting there, as you will be able to enjoy the view during your stay. If they are full, it is still definitely worth sitting at a table or the bar to try some incredibly unique cocktails.

Innovation was clearly important to the founder of the bar, as each of the original cocktails comes with an explanation of the thought process that was involved during the creation of the drink. Presentation is also top-notch, with some of the cocktails being served on interesting trinkets that match the story behind each libation. We've tried almost all the hand-crafted cocktails on the menu and have never been disappointed.

This place is a hidden gem in the Kitahama area. The ambience is the quintessential Japanese bar atmosphere: cozy, relaxed, soothing. As soon as I sat down, my stress started to melt away. But the main draw here is the sublime cocktail concoctions of proprietor Kiriyama Toru and his staff. Kiriyama-san is a cocktail GENIUS, using scientific techniques to determine the ingredients that will best complement the alcohol. His Bluecheese Flower, 0% Strawberry, and Hendricks Gimlet are all must-try concoctions. But I think my all-time favorite is the Naniwa Green cocktail invented by his bartender (whose name I unfortunately can't recall right now). Not only did they taste incredible, they were veritable works of art as can be seen in the photos. And their customer service was excellent--every night we went there (we went 3 times!), they made us feel welcome and at home.
