Delicious 6 course meal prepared beautifully. I chose the assortment of beef cuts prepared medium-rare--they were perfect. They started with a small appetizer assortment consisting of meatloaf, beef, and eel. It was all well plated, but somehow bland. Honestly, it didn't serve much purpose other than to keep me busy till the next course. Next was a leek and celery soup that was just perfect. Following the soup was a small and simple salad to munch on while I watched the beef being prepared. Nothing special. The main event. Excellent beef perfectly prepared. Each cut was browned, then sliced with each piece individually cooked to a perfect medium-rare. During this time, an assortment of grilled veggies was served alongside the beef, with the mushroom being my favorite. To cap dinner off, I was served a modest portion of fried rice (there was a choice of preparation). It was a good way to settle the meal. Finally, dessert. The bread that had been used to serve the beef was used as French toast and dusted with choice of matcha, cinnamon, or cocoa. Served with chocolate ice cream, fresh chocolate, fruit, and coffee (with choice of tea offered). While this truly was tasty, I couldn't help but wonder what could have been if the effort from the initial appetizer had been shifted to dessert instead. I had two draft beers and a Yamazaki on the rocks (don't judge, I forgot to ask for it neat, and it didn't last long anyway 😅) throughout the meal. The service was attentive. I felt like I could ask anything and get a straight answer. The chef spoke rudimentary English but was prepared to use google translate to avoid any misunderstanding. The decor was a little drab, but the equipment was high quality and well maintained. For the meal and drinks, I paid ¥20k JPY and would happily...
Read moreIt's just a wonderful experience here. Went in with some expectations after falling into a tourist trap elsewhere, chose the cheapest option 3.8k Yen lunch set (mizayaki beef lean) and the salad they gave you a slice of some other parts as sample, and oh god I was enthralled by it. Secondly, they served the cold potato soup which is VERY flavourful, and then the mizayaki beef (medium rare) with sea salt, garlic chip and wasabi. And it was AMAZING. Flavour burst everywhere as you felt the punch from the wasabi and yet the sea salt enhances the flavour, and the garlic chip neutralises the wasabi, and bringing out more flavour from it. Oh, and don't eat the bread, as the bread will be used, toasted into a dessert later for your consumption. Probably, the lackluster thing is their drinks, ice coffee was pretty standard, but they're not a coffee shop specialist. Definitely go and...
Read moreWe were served by Kunishige Ishii-san an incredible chef at this establishment. He served 6 of us with a language barrier, and still managed to exceed our expectations.
At first we were reluctant about the price to meat-weight value but we were soon surprised to find that it was a full course meal. Every single part of the course blew our taste buds out of the water. The steaks were like nothing we've ever eaten and cooked to perfection.
Ishii-san smiled and cracked jokes throughout the entire experience. If I could, I would give this experience a 11/10. Bravo!
Cost: 150,000 Yen minimum, I went up to 23,500 while some others went to 300,000 yen, I felt like I got its worth and more.
