Thought we were being showed some great hospitality when we came in for a quick few pieces of sushi before heading back out to catch our train. The waiter seemed very nice asked us about some of the shopping we did and asked what we would like. Told him we were just grabbing a few pieces and heading out. We ordered two hand rolls and two pieces of fish row. Total around 1000 yen if that. We said we were good and than waiter ask if we would like anything else we said no thank you all was good . He thanked kindly was saying” I would like you to try, have you ever had “ … did not understand, but I have been to a few great sushi places before and sometimes we were given a piece of some other kind a of sushi for free . Always super kind gesture and I know it would be rude to refuse. At one point we thought he said it was a specialty of the season - sounded like we agreed on it being octopus legs (which I’m good with) , we kept saying you sure? You don’t have to do that. He said no no. No problem. Ended up being some type of fish liver or something. Took one bite. Super clear I didn’t like it. I thanked them and just said I am full but again I appreciate it.
Find out after I paid bill they charge me for it and it was more than everything else we got. So more than doubled our bill.
I should have check, I should have maybe strongly refused. That is my fault. I have been to Japan before and this time have had a great experience and will not let that damper any other experience but it was very clear after they were taking advantage of some nice people coming from. Out of state and made them selves a good run at my expense. Is what it is.. now I understand why it was completely empty. I thought we were getting nice service because only ones there but sounds more like to cover up so they can do what they did. Not cool. Be careful plenty of other great places to eat. FYI- also Clear to say sushi part was fine ,the gift of gift I had to pay for that was 2x the amount of what I actually ordered that was clearly not something to we...
Read more🍣 This is honestly my favorite sushi spot in all of Tokyo! If you’re staying near Asakusa and everything else is closed but you still want to have a great time, this is the place to go.
Expect to spend around 7000 to 9000 yen, but it’s totally worth it. You’ll enjoy some of the best sushi in Tokyo, even better than what you’ll find in fancy restaurants. The quality, freshness, and flavor are on another level.
I really recommend going at night between 1 AM and 8 AM. That’s when the atmosphere is the most fun, and the staff are amazing — truly some of the nicest people you’ll meet. Be polite, chat with them, and ask for their sushi or sake recommendations; they’ll make sure you have a fantastic experience.
Every time I’m in Tokyo, I go there almost every day. I miss the staff so much — they’ve become like real friends to me.
