The food is pretty good, not great. The service is rather bad. Don't wait for the granny, order with the chefs, or you might wait forever because she forgot there are guests. The young chef speaks good English, but there's no English menu and there's no drinks menu at all, you got to ask what they have (hint: except for tap water and hot tea, everything it by the bottle).
Anyway, my first time here was pretty good, also thanks to speaking Japanese. My second time was my last time.
I got ignored after sitting down for a long timez despite wanting to order. Because a bottle of sake is too much for one person, I offered 1/3 of it to the neighboring table but was told off, I couldn't share it. Instead they brought me the lid so I could take it with me. I pay for the bottle either way, so surely I can share it. Surely I could share it with people on my table, too! Then when I asked for the bill, it was acknowledged but it never came, so I had to ask again.
I made this my last meal before leaving the country, but they ruined my evening. I'll go elsewhere in future. Luckily there are plenty of good sushi...
Read moreDefinitely a weird experience and I would not go back. This is an example of how inaccurate Gogle reviews are in Japan. Both my parents are Japanese, I speak Japanese and the sushi is absolutely not as Greg or the best as many make it out to be.
Once you're in - the pricing isn't clear based on the menu they give you. And the menu they give you is not clear on what they have - so you just have to ask for specific things - like we did for 8 pieces of Maguro (too much rice) nigiri a futomaki (way too big with too much rice) - one large Kirin. 7800yen.
Zero Japanese patrons. All tourists. Tables that came after us were all a little confused but so as not to be seen as dummies just ordered simple familiar things. When it came time to pay with everyone (including us) we were just told how much it was. No bill.
Deinitely not worth it. For the food...
Read moreAuthentic traditional sushi, served fresh to order, with great service.
The menu is simple and can be limited by the fish still available from the day's catch but it was prepared from scratch in short time with what tasted like very fresh rice, wasabi and seafood. The bill came to a reasonable price (6100Y for 2 people for a larger variety of nigiri) for a very touristy area.
While the menu itself was only in Japanese, the chef speaks fantastic English and was very friendly and accommodating to dietary requests. He explained the menu and gladly offered his recommendations for travellers.
The restaurant has been passed through 3 generations of their family over 85 years and the decor has a traditional yet timeless feel to reflect it. In all, a great stop for...
