If you're looking to experience the thrilling combination of chaos, poor planning, and sheer disregard for customer time, Jesselton Point Seafood is your perfect destination.
We made a reservation for 730 pm (You know, that thing people do so a table is ready when they arrive?) for 2 tables with their combo price set menu worth rm168 (2 set, fixed menu). We showed up early at 720 pm, only to find no table was available for us despite our reservation. Apparently, here, a “reservation” is more of a decorative word than a functional practice.
So we waited outside the restaurant like walk-ins with no booking, for at least 30 minutes. When we were finally let in at approx. near 750 pm, we were given a table so tiny it was laughable for 16 ppl (including children and two elderly family members). So what did we do? Waited another 10 to 13 minutes for a proper table.
And just when we thought we could finally settle in? Surprise! We got to play musical chairs as the staff moved us from table to table like luggage with no destination. Like we were contestants on a reality show called “Find Your Seat If You Can”.
Let’s not forget the restroom. Because what’s dinner without a visit to a dirty toilet that makes you question your life choices?
And now, the highlight of the evening, at around 840 pm (mind you, we booked our table with a fixed menu set, so no ordering was required), one of us went to ask the staff at the counter abt our food. They proceeded to say that the kitchen couldn’t handle all the orders anymore. With this info, we had no choice but to get up and leave to find another restaurant. The only good thing was that they refunded our money.
We left the premises at 851 pm to be exact, with just a plate of fish, two jugs of chinese tea, and a medium bowl of rice (which btw is obviously not enough). 1 hour and 31 minutes of sitting, waiting, and getting shuffled around like an afterthought. What a memorable way to celebrate Mother’s Day.
And fyi, a couple near us had apparently been at the restaurant since 530 pm. When we left at 851 pm, they still hadn’t received their food. Legendary.
To the management, if you don’t have the capacity to serve this many customers, then seriously, jangan tamaha. Accepting more bookings than you can handle isn’t ambition, it’s negligence.
So ppl, save your time, your appetite, and your patience. Go somewhere else where a reservation means something and dinner doesn't turn into a test...
Read moreThe food here is mediocre you can get better food at a better price around the area. The most problematic part is the service here. The staff here looks lost and do not care about the place. When I ate here they said the place were full but actually the problem was the lack of good staff. They clean the tables with their own sweet time. In my case even though I was sitting at the table which was dirty from the last customer the staff simply ignore us and waited for each other to clean it. The staff were all waiting on one another to do something. Other then that, they are scammers they encourage u to take their family set which I took. Which consists of squid, vegetables, soup, tofu and yam ring for rm 88. We waited for more then 40 minutes for the food and when it came we were disappointed. One of the dish didn't arrive and when we question the staff they keep saying they will check on it but they didn't come back with a response and after that they avoid the table. We went to ask the head of the staff and she told us the y am ring had run out earlier but non of them told us. They suggested to change to a fish or a chicken dish but there where the Scam start even though the yam dish was in the rm88 set they wanted to replace it with another dish but u had to pay full price for that dish which was sweet and sour chicken that cost rm28 and the rm 88 set price was not reduced at all. Total time wasted there was 2 hours... Basically, terrible restaurants which staff
try to act dumb to scam people. DO NOT GO HERE THE OWNER HAS CHANGE AND NOW THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP...
Read moreI came here to pack food for takeaway and I must say the service is top notch. I was asked to take a seat and they even served warm water while I was waiting for my food to be ready.
There was a fairly long waiting time as the restaurant was quite packed. I waited for over 30 minutes for my food to be ready but the boss was kind enough to give me updates on when my order is being prepared.
To be honest, the food didn't wow me (it might be because it was takeaway and not eaten freshly cooked). I ordered the crab fried rice, salted egg deep fried sotong, kam heong sapak, sambal kangkung and salted vegetable tofu soup. Crab fried rice was slightly on the soggy side, and I was expecting actual crab meat and was disappointed to see crabstick meat instead. The salted egg deep fried sotong and kam heong sapak was the star on the meal and I enjoyed both those dishes. The salted vegetable tofu soup was a little bit too salty for my liking.
Overall, service was good but perhaps it might be better to eat there rather...
