⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Impressive Hotpot Experience – Highly Recommended!

If you’re looking for a top-notch hotpot experience in Kota Kinabalu, KK Shu Da Xia Hotpot is definitely the place to go! We had an amazing time dining here, and everything from the food to the service and ambiance exceeded our expectations.

The first thing that caught our attention was the atmosphere. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a modern twist on traditional Chinese elements, creating an authentic yet comfortable dining environment. The seating is spacious, the lighting is warm, and there’s a great balance between privacy and liveliness, making it ideal for family dinners, gatherings with friends, or even a cozy date night.

The service here is outstanding. Every staff member we encountered was polite, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal, including offering extra soup, changing grilling nets when needed, and constantly checking in with a smile. It’s clear that the team here takes pride in offering a great customer experience.

Now for the most important part – the food! The quality of the ingredients was impressive. Everything we ordered was fresh, well-prepared, and generously portioned. We especially loved the signature beef slices, handmade shrimp paste, and fresh seafood. The vegetables were clean and crisp, and the mushroom selection was excellent. You can really taste the freshness in every bite.

Their soup bases are a highlight. We chose the spicy Sichuan mala and herbal chicken broth, and both were flavorful and rich. The mala broth had the perfect level of heat and numbing spice – just the right balance without overpowering the ingredients. The herbal broth was soothing and aromatic, great for those who prefer something mild and nourishing.

They also have a well-stocked sauce bar with a wide variety of condiments and house-made sauces, so you can customize your dip to your liking. And don’t forget to try their fruit and dessert section – a refreshing way to end your meal.

What’s more, we noticed they offer good value-for-money promotions, especially for first-time customers or groups. It’s a nice touch that makes dining here even more worthwhile.

All in all, KK Shu Da Xia Hotpot is hands down one of the best hotpot restaurants in Kota Kinabalu. Had hotpot here with my husband and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant is clean, air-conditioned, and very comfortable. It’s perfect for gatherings with family or friends.

There are many soup base options, we tried the signature mala, mushroom soup (菌汤), and fish maw chicken soup (花胶鸡) , these were flavourful and just nice, not too salty. The sauce station is a big plus — lots of choices to mix your own style, from spicy to savoury.

Service was also good — staff were friendly, responsive and always ready to help.

Just one small feedback — the prawn paste wasn’t the best. The texture was quite floury, not the usual springy prawn texture you’d expect. Hope this can be improved

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here! The restaurant’s decor is beautifully traditional, with intricate wood carvings and warm, ambient lighting that made the atmosphere feel cozy and special.

The hotpot ingredients were incredibly fresh. The meats were sliced perfectly, and the vegetables were crisp and vibrant. We loved the flavorful broths, especially the spicy one which had the perfect balance of heat and fragrance.

Service was excellent, attentive, friendly, and they made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. They were especially accommodating towards our children, providing child friendly utensils and high chairs.
