This is a category one old school makan joint. Was served and recommended by the boss himself ( Peter Chin). Being my 1st time there, we'd ventured to enquire what were best on the menu, lo and behold he gave a list of old school dishes no longer found elsewhere! Besides ftom the old school cooking style, they're basically n typically Cantonese school of cooking. You may enquire from him what's available for the day, if not place a forward reservation for certain dishes to your fancy or for something long lost but tasted like your mother's cooking. We were served with his recommendations and the dishes came out to perfection and to the satisfaction of our tastebuds. As usual we brought along our own Chinese tea along and did not ordered a u other drinks. The dishes we ordered were pork belly yam, tofu with fish meat and black beans, and a sweet and sour pork belly. Simple as it may be, but the sweet and sour sauce were those not found at bigger as nd well established restaurant. The atmosphere was slightly aged but didn't deter us from the taste we were looking for. Have indeed found a new alternative place to eat to our hearts content. The final bill came up to 160+ but then you pay slightly more for chasing a certain cooking style and we deemed it well worth and deserving of the bill we paid. Highly recommended to those older foodies looking for a bite of those old school etched into our child...
Read moreFive stars for the food. Excellent Cantonese-style noodles with a lot of 'wok hei'. You can hardly find such 'old-school Cantonese taste' anymore in KL. I would suggest to order the Ying Yong noodles and the Beef Cantonese noodles. Price is reasonable. They also sell 'Mui Choy Kao Yuk' which is very popular but I have not taste it yet, though I have tried their 'Wu Tao Kao Yuk' which is absolutely divine! Price for a plate of that pork dish is a lil on the high side but I believe this is due to the recent high prices of pork and vegetables locally. Thanks to the inflation crisis here. I do need to point out about the lack of seating options as tables are mostly place outdoors. It can be quite uncomfortable if the weather is hot. They do have seating available in first floor where it's air-conditioned but according to the waitress there, after Covid happens, this is only for booking for a certain...
Read moreI sat down to eat because of the road side open space convenience. I mean this is no Paris roadside cafe but the fact that the restaurant opened out into the street somehow attracted me to sit down and watch the day go by. Finally, the food came and I was not disappointed at first. The place serves the stir fry dishes that I used to eat when I was younger. A nostalgic food. Then the surprise came. I paid RM60 for two main and one side dishes. Ying Yong, Fried Mee Sua and spring onion with three drinks. Normally you can get similar food around RM40+. The place charges similar to the new up market air-conditioning cafe. The uncomfortable feeling came after we got into the car. The side effect of MSG. What a shame, it could be a cool nostalgic place...
